Quite a few drivers have been called up re LGBT tshirts/helmets/masks/shoes and it looks to be in relation to not taking them off the national anthem.

"Vettel wore a rainbow-colored t-shirt throughout the pre-race grid ceremonies with the words “Same Love” on it, having also worn rainbow shoes earlier this week as part of its support for the LGBTQ + community in Hungary.

Part of the FIA pre-race ceremony document states that drivers must “take off their t-shirts” during the national anthem.

“I heard it was because I left my shirt for the national anthem,” Vettel said.

“I’m happy if they disqualify me. They can do whatever they want with me, I don’t care. I would do it again. “

Seb really is a gem

I get so annoyed at F1 they don’t even try to hide their bias towards Ham. They are scared of him getting his blind minions around the world to make life difficult so they give him every favour they can.
“You want us to support BLM sure we’ll do it for ever but if any other driver tries to be politically correct and support something, well we will have them killed” (FIA) “we race as ham”

Great drive Ocon. Vettel did all he could. Great recovery by Lewis after a self inflicted wound.

God I’m going to miss Fernando though. The old dog just refusing to let Lewis past for no real personal gain but just to help his team mate win his first race. Might be one of the last time we ever see Alonso v Hamilton in a genuine battle. That was great racing.

Those few laps were amazing to watch.

Lewis carried on a bit too much which seemed to distract him from getting the job done earlier.

I found it amusing though that despite Lewis saying Alonso was "all over the place", when he passed Sainz he laid the same move pushing him wide around the outside with the elbows out.

Good strong defensive driving from Alonso.

Even better the post-race scenes seeing the Alpines drive side by side, then Alonso waiting for Esteban to congratulate him. Great scenes. Hopefully Netflix got it.

I know it’s a rule, but gee somethings wrong when a driver gets disqualified because you can’t find 700ml’s of fuel, while a driver takes out all of his teammates competitors (I know it’s accidental), does damage to all of the spend caps basically handing them a massive advantage to his team mate and it gets a 5 grid spot penalty.

Red Bull are now an engine short with one car and the other has had so much spent on it because of Mercedes playing dodgem cars will have spend cap problems later in the year.

These 2 races will be remembered as the turning point when Hamilton and Mercedes win again and they get a world title after these two accidents while Vettel get disqualified because they couldn’t find enough fuel.

This is just feels so wrong.

Yup. Amazing how this kind of crap happens in every professional sport. It shouldn't be hard to make rules that uphold integrity of the sport, are consistent and relative.

I don't really understand their logic behind "the consequences not being factored into a penalty".

I would think the consequences are very relevant.

Would Bottas have braked a bit earlier if that was Lewis in front of him? I would think so yes.

Would Lewis have pulled that move last week if it were Bottas and not Max? I doubt it.

I would think the consequences for others should 100% be factored into penalties. Redbull now cop an engine penalty at some point, plus a hefty repair bill. They effectively lost both cars in the melee.

Merc lost 1 car and guaranteed a points gain in the process.

5 place grid penalty for Bottas next week seems laughable.

Still waiting to see what penalty Stroll got for the doing the same action as Bottas

I find Strolls even worse to be honest.

Bottas was a passenger after the initial stuff up.

Stroll actually had time to react and avoid contact, and did so at first, before choosing to come back into the inside of the corner and t-bone lerclec. He could've cut the corner entirely and avoided contact by my eyes, then given the places back. But perhaps not in the greasy conditions. I haven't watched it back yet.

#blessed

The luckiest driver of all time continues to be just that.
It's actually unreal how lucky he is and that he's even close in the title fight, let alone leading it.

- Abusing track limits all race in Bahrain, then Max gets a penalty for doing the same, giving Hamilton the lead
- The most timely red flag of all time in Imola
- Max getting Pirelli'd from the lead in Baku
- Punting Max off in Silverstone
- Max getting punted off by Bottas in Hungary

Truly #blessed and the GOAT

Wouldn't mind seeing a penalty that if a competitor is demonstrably found to be at fault for an incident the equivalent amount for the damaged caused is removed from the guilty parties teams soft cap

This is a sensible suggestion.

However, there are inherent issues in drawing whether that line is. Anything that attracts time penalties in a race? That would mean extremely tepid racing if drivers are afraid to get close to others for fear of crippling their team's cap. If a Haas rookie mistakenly puts a tyre on the grass in an ambitious overtaking attempts and wipes out a Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari then you can say goodbye to Haas. Why would you even risk overtaking on lap 1?

Increasing the risk is the point

it's bad enough with the tyre management and the inability for cars to overtake now. This would just mean that unless a car has a massive advantage in the straights then nobody would try anything. Just watch qualifying and call it the GP and be done with it.

Accidents happen in racing, it's hardly like Bottas wanted to write himself off on the opening turn. It's not like he was going to gain an advantage breaking late with Norris right in front.

The better the cars are at following and the closer they are in terms of performance is when we'll get exciting races and calculated risks

The simple solution for a Bottas and Stroll incident is a one F! GP suspension - This probably hurts the team more than a 5 grid penalty.
