Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan says Daniher, Cockatoo in ominous form ahead of season
Brisbane Lions star recruit Joe Daniher is yet to miss a training session or have his program modified according to coach Chris Fagan, as the former Bomber prepares for his first round one AFL game in three years.

“I think he was obviously on the mend towards the end of last year. He’s had a good break, no setbacks at all and has done every session. He seems to be enjoying himself and getting on with his teammates.”

Brisbane’s other high-profile recruit, former top 10 draft pick Nakia Cockatoo, is also tracking well after six years for just 34 games with Geelong.

“He too has done all the training so far,” Fagan said.

“We’ve modified him a little bit because he wasn’t able to do a lot of training before Christmas so he’s been on a gradual build up. Basically he’s doing all the skill sessions.

Ominous for opposition players or supercoaches?

Sounds like Ziebell to defence is actually happening

------------------------------
Today

NORTH Melbourne veteran Jack Ziebell says the club’s experienced defenders are helping him adjust to a new role at half-back this year.

New Kangaroos coach David Noble floated the idea of a positional change to Ziebell before Christmas and the inside midfielder was open to a switch.

Ziebell played across halfback sparingly as a junior, then in a few games during his debut AFL season and again a couple of years ago.

The 29-year-old said he was still learning the ropes down back.

“I’ve got some really experienced defenders — Robbie Tarrant, Josh Walker, Aidan Corr, Luke McDonald also at half- back — around me … and they’ve been awesome for me,” Ziebell said.

“I was quite excited to get down there the first couple of weeks of pre-season training and after a week and a bit down there now, I’ve learnt so much.”

Ziebell featured in just eight games last year due to hamstring problems as the Roos finished the campaign secondbottom with a 3- 14 record.

Four months on, he is on track to complete a full preseason , which is symbolic of the club’s injury list.

Last years scores against WC 165, blues 118, tigers 117, saints 88 (bad team loss) and lions 71 (bad team loss).
Honestly looking into his scores last year he only dropped below 70 when port had bad losses (29 against cats... ouch).
Maybe I’m overrating port it’s always hard to speculate this time of the year, but I think the big fella needs a little more love here..

Dixon gave Balta a bath the first time they played, but kicked 2.4.

Balta returned the favour the next game.

Does JZ steal some of LMac's chips?

You'd think he'd have to have some effect.
So will Corr?

I'm still firmly on the McDonald train for now.

Ziebell as a HBF could still be a disaster and chucked out before the seasons even starts.

But there would have been someone playing Ziebell's new position last year so he would just be replacing that player must not have had any effect on McDonalds scoring.

New coach, new gameplan, new arrival - Corr, JZ possibly stealing some chips. I'm not convinced that LMac's role is guaranteed to be as SC lucrative as it was last year.

Could easily be covering someone like a marley williams' job but with the potential for more kickouts etc coming his way it could easily affect Lmac's scoring. Similar to a Corr coming in as well. ATM I'm almost forced to stay away as the North Backline gets stronger and the ball will inevitably be shared around more.

Most new coaches don't generally make that many changes but you never really know. I am a bit nervous starting with him but you need to take some risks at the start and his last 10 games last year are too hard to ignore especially seeing he is priced at 95 and I do like that only 15% own him so far so could be a nice POD.

So much value up forward this year. It’s definitely the line to go light on imo.

premo wise

Sidey and danger are both studs but with the lack of pre season for danger and the uncertainty in Steeles role (wing or inside mid role ala 2019) I’m happy to use them as upgrades. Both normally fall in price throughout the year anyway.

Dunkley
Marshall
Dusty

the 3 im very keen on

Dunkley contract year. Will play inside again and predominately midfield rather then forward. Spread of points the only worry. Don’t see it being an issue
100 floor 120 ceiling as we know he can do it

Marshall second Ruck. Great mark. Hit outs to advantage. Gets the ball. Can’t wait til he’s number 1 ruck again. He’s the only one that will rival Gawn and grundy. But until then he’s a 100-110 guy and safe as houses

dusty much like Marshall is safe as houses to be a top 6 forward. Floor is 95 ceiling is 110. If he chooses to actually care during the year he would be a 110 guy no worries but I’m happy to lock away the 100 average with the hope of getting it to 105.

Not much else I like from that
Zorko is great but don’t see him playing every game.
butters the best of the breakout candidates.
Heeney probably the best pick between 400-500k. High floor 90 ceiling 100 happy to wait

the odd one I like in that 400-500k bracket though is de goey. Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people downplay him. But if anyone can average 95+ in a new role it’s him. If he turns up in the pre season with a 50/50 mid/fwd split I’m getting on him! Like trac we have been waiting to see him breakout and while it won’t be anywhere near the 117 trac did I can genuinely see him going 95+ With some super scores. Nice pod and currently in my team. He’s averaged 87 twice without midfield time so doesn’t need to do a lot more to get to 95+

I think I’ll be starting 2 of the above guys along with mid pricers

Daniher brown ziebell impey are perfect stepping stones. Normally stepping stones are crap prices and 300+K but with all these guys being below 300k i think I’ll be starting all 4.
Daniher only needs 1 big game to make money and his ceiling is still there as he showed vs the hawks
Impey was great just before he did his knee and someone I looked at for depth when he was def-fwd eligible
Brown needs 2 bags in the first 6 games and he’s going up to 350+ quicky. Can happen at Melbourne as I see them playing finals this year

Ziebell club captain now in a juicy role at half back. Will be like dev smith how he ended the year imo. Ridley was the linkman which I think McDonald will be but ziebell will be the dev role who is the second option as gull. He along with heppell are the two older mid pricers I’m keen on

Why wouldn’t Zorko play every game? Even when he’s injured he has a great recovery ability and hardly missed games

Can heeney be trusted to return as the player he once was. Those ankle injuries are career ending no joke very bad injury. Only Ronaldo can come back good cos his ronaldo. I personally think heeney is done Thomas also didn’t come back the same time will tell hope I’m wrong for the fellas sake but time will tell

He started in my team early when team picker came out but when the news came that he hasn’t been running I jumped off. I actually think he’ll have a good year. That Adelaide game last year he looked unbelievable. He’s just so frustrating to watch as he always gets niggles and knocks and with the new concussion rule coming in I think he’ll be one at high risk.
definitely a wait and see for me his scoring doesn’t let his price get too far away like Daniel in the backline. Both safe guys who you can get later in the year without forking out huge amounts of dollars

Purely age not questioning his durability as he’s been amazing.
Role has always been good too
I just think The team will win more then enough games in 2021 and he like Selwood at geelong may miss 2/3 games over the 22 games through restings.
Your youth looks great and they will get a crack at some stage in 2021 imo from the likes of Birchall robbo and zorko
