Interesting position in 2021 with probably only 1-2 premiums being actual locks and the rest very speculative.
Do you stack cheapies or go mid pricers like many have so far, choose the best 6 and just stick with them or roll the dice on guns and rookies?
Pretty tough situation considering a lot of the cheaper 'midpriced' players are all coming off an injury and their scoring potential is speculative at best.

Even SPs is questionable this year due to the shorter quarter BS we had last season.

No way Pertracca finishes 8th highest scoring in the league next year.
Plus I have a fear CD will **** Gawn and Grundy as they were gifted a lot of KOTD points they lost out on from scoring a lot less HTA last season.
If Gawn had the influnence of a 139 averaging ruck than why didn't Melbourne win 20 Centre Clearances which led into 10+ goals every week?
He averaged 7 less hitouts than last year and 15 less than 2018 but averaged 12 points more in 2020

Im considering taking the risk on starting rucks.

You're right, he won't finish 8th, he'll finish top 5. Imagine doubting the Italian stallion lol. Legit top 3 mid in the afl behind Neale and Dusty.

You starting him mate?

Oliver is good enough for me. More proven.

Melbourne's forward line had huge issues in 2020.
No real forward target to the point whenever it went in the forward 50 it would end up the other direction.
With Brown in the side and development of the small forwards/weidman etc it should change.
Gawn usually smashes his opponents and is vsing basically nobodies for the first 6 rounds so I'm expecting big numbers.

I'm starting both Tracc and Clarry, no chance that the two of them aren't top 10 mid, let alone top 10 scorers at seasons end. Tracc still has so much more improvement in him it's crazy, same with Oliver. Oliver a butcher, Tracc decent kick but both of them are very dumb footballers. Back them in to improve their decision making and become more efficient.

Theres no rule that players who butcher the ball can’t score well.
Examples include Dangerfool and Dusty.

If they both improve their kicking their scores can only go up right???

Just have to keep tabs on the R14 bye round
...... Melb, Coll, Syd, freo, Crows all on that bye

impacts many teams rucks, def ..... do you simply ignore the byes ? .... they seem to do a lot of us in every year though if ignored

Always take no notice of byes until the week before they start. When choosing your starting 30 they're just a distraction. Too much can happen between round one and the first bye round.

Problem i’ve had is injuries occurring thru the byes .... can really stuff you ...up as the trades you had planned, become injury trades

Rd14 bye shouldn't hurt too much.
I think most teams will be done by then so its just a case of fill pick up 3 guys from the rd12/13 and you're set.
Should easily have at least 18 playing by then even if its 1-2 rookies.
Neale, danger, titch, cripps, zerrett, any dogs/eagles mids dusty or whoever turns up premuim by then are all decent VC/C options

Danger and Marshall are the only premo locks for me. I have concerns about Dunkley getting enough midfield minutes although at this stage I'd still say that he's the 3rd one I'd pick but he's certainly not a lock.

Heeney's got to be close to a lock priced at 85ppg

hes never averaged over 100 so unless you are predicting a breakout season from him where he averages say 105+ then no way is he a lock imo. far from it. and if the team builder thingos' prices are even remotely accurate then hes not even that cheap to make you much money to be cash generation. i dont expect heeney to be a top 6-8 forward and hes not cheap enough to likely make enough to be a stepping stone so its a pass for me. he could be next season's petracca but that is just predicting a breakout player nowhere near a lock. is he moving into midfield to play in there more next season? role change? as a pies fan i think its worth mentioning that de goey may well be doing a petracca-like role change moving into midfield to play more there, hes another one to watch eh?

Yeah tend to agree.

Heeney gets stuck up forward too much for my liking which is bloody frustrating as an owner.

If he was going to play full time mid next year then I'd be all over him like I would with Rubys puppies.
