Depending how they do it.

Considering how bright their kits are at the moment, going to dull colours like those might ruin their branding completely. You can get away with using that gold in small bursts like trimming, but a whole kit for a family-friendly franchise is ugly.

For Collingwood it would probably work as a one-off, because they don't have any other stand-out colours, but GC needs at least one vibrant colour. That gold ain't it.
unless the gold had a metallic finish, then it certainly would be bright enough.

It's funny how anything posted on Reddit gets snapped up so quickly by 7AFL, Fox Footy et al.
Never forget when 7 News Perth used Freight Train ’s mockup of our then rumoured ISC wings with new logo on the 6pm news thinking it was the official press release. Even included the widely speculated white clash which never saw the light of day (thank god)

Karl Langdon getting into a Twitter argument believing it was 100% legit is a highlight of my life as a graphic designer, ngl.

There's something about the Yellow Images template that just guarantees getting featured on 7AFL no matter how unpolished the design might be lol

If they're gonna have a Retro Round, should have different time-frames. Have 90's one season and 80's the next and so on. For all the teams who didn't exist in that time period they should come up with a fauxback to fit that era, would be cool to see something like that I reckon.

Isn’t that more or less what killed it in the first place though? The last two years were 70s and 80s themed and the Vic clubs more or less wore the same jumpers at that time anyway, while the non-Vic clubs largely weren’t around.

I think the best way for a Heritage/Retro Round to return would be a once-off round where teams wear one of the many awesome away/pre-season jumpers from the late-90's and early- to mid-00's, and as many of the matchups as possible to be rivalries and big matches from the same time period (West Coast vs Sydney, Geelong vs St Kilda, Brisbane vs Collingwood etc.)

As you said above Red Crow, most of the Victorian teams are wearing virtually the same jumper now as they did in the 70's-80's, or they've already recreated it for Heritage Round. As we approach twenty years since what many consider to be a golden era of the AFL it's the perfect time to recreate some of the classic jumpers of the time

Oh I wasn't aware that they had themes in those years, in that case you are probably right. But in saying that, while clubs may have the same jumper emulating retro features like collars, woollen cuffs and textures or even embroidered logos could go a long way to making designs that look the same worth while buying.

I'll have a shot at GWS later on but here's something I quickly mocked up for the Suns

And a GWS one. Maybe could go the full yoke but a few jumpers around this time had coloured shoulders I believe so seems to suit it better
