They also desperately need to not meet the Dees in a finals game..

If the dees are up the top end this year and look likely.. the AFL will definitely pull out all the stops to give them every opportunity to win the flag.. it will be #FreekickDees just as it was for the the tigers in 2017 and the dogs before that.. guaranfknteed.

A dees win will bring all the old dees supporters, that have been hiding for decades now, out of the woodwork and openning their wallets to hand over their hard earned. Just as we have seen with the tigers and dogs supporters in recent years. Before 2017 the tigers were drawing pissant crowds... now they can fill the G for big clashes and have 90,000 members.

The AFL has a business first.. competition fairness second model. Its all about the customers and getting more of them to part way with their coin.
Absolutely.

The AFL will be loving this resurgence.

They'll be keen on a Brisbane v Melbourne GF you would think

Nah Bulldogs v Melbourne

I doubt that want Brisbane there.

Melbourne V WB, or Melbourne V Geelong, or Melbourne V Richmond, will all be favoured over Brisbane.
I was just thinking of TV numbers.

Brisbane GF would be a boon for viewing numbers

so ... you know.. why no Fairytale story about Cripps going home to WA and that is what FA is for?

fu** i hate the double standard bullshit from the VFL media

This is not original. Sloane made the same suggestion years ago when looking to be resigned: where did that end?
So, if the VFL caves to this current push, then that would certainly indicate VIC bias in the system.
If that happens, we should push for some back-dating considerations.

edit: I missed the earlier contributions on this: apologies.

I know you expected more from me, but this is on short notice.

Fun Facts with Grotto

At the end of September, Carlton may move into the Top 3 teams of ALL TIME in the AFL competition,

to go through the current longest running drought in not winning a premiership, if Melbourne win it in 2021. :$

Saints, Freo then CarLOLton.

It should be worth noting at least in the 2010s Saints and Freo had a genuine bona fide chance of winning a flag in that decade.

This becomes less of a fun-fact if you extend it to a top 4.

OK MODS SPEAK UP. Which one closely remembers this character when you read our posts in the morning to moderate.

That'd be Deaneus!

Dangerfield to Vic - Let him go home, it's family
Ablett to Vic - Would be inhumane to keep him
Judd to Vic - He's done his time, let him go
JCameron to Vic - Doesn't want to be there, let him go

Kelly to WA - Screw him, make him stay if they don't get what they want
Cripps to WA(?) - Change the rules so the Vic club can afford to keep him

Take me off ignore! :p

My favourite part of the whole jumping when he didn't need to was not even keeping his feet when he landed.

He couldn't have ballsed that up anymore if he was Mackay trying to rush a behind from 20 metres out
Yeah I noted that on about my 119th rewatch. It's like his legs forgot how to leg. As soon as he spills the cup his legs just go "Nope, we're out. Floor's lava." They're actually in the right position to land properly but then he tucks them. If he keeps his feet then the defender wouldn't have such an uncontested run out of defence.

So accurate it is frightening.
To be brutally fair and honest.. it is probably the best model unfortunately..

Ultimately.. it may be based on a sport but.. The AFL is in the entertainment industry. The more customers the better the business goes.

The whole Prison Bars “fight” is a perfect example..

The AFL had to make a decision that would go against and upset the supporters of one of these two clubs. The pies have 650,000 supporters (customers), port have 270,000 (customers)..

At the end of the day which group of customers are you going to make the decision against?... you’d pick the smallest group everytime wouldnt you, as that represents the smallest risk.

At the same time you revell in the fact that the issue has most of your port customers up and about and engaged and wanting to get behind their club.. and you have the added bonus of all the “theatre” of Kochie and Eddie beating their chests and taking pot shots at each other in the media..

Its all results in a brilliant outcome for the AFL really..

I just saw this written on facebook. Anyone know if it's true?

"Level 1 seating to Port game $45. Level 1 seating to a Crows game $89 at Adelaide Oval"
I can confirm $89 is our cheapest seat when you look

Same sort of pricing principle applies to the 11 game reserved seat memberships for each club. Ours are considerably more expensive for the exact same seat.

It might help their patented "March to Mediocrity" campaign they are currently running if they charged their members the same amount as the AFC does for the exact same seats.

Ken said last night they only want to wear the bars guernsey in Showdowns. Ffs let the baby have their bottle. Shirts and skins for all I care. Stop letting their club get all this free publicity.

On another note if they really want to go to the heritage bars guernsey then wear lace ups .... but of course these are not allowed, ie the heritage guernsey argument makes zero sense.
