Will Phillips is finally making his debut this week. Gonna wait a week and then jump right on if he scores over a 70. Anything less, and it's not worth it at a starting price of 266K IMO

Don’t really see any need to get in Phillips now. We are getting good scores from Gulden, Jordan and Powell has been decent. Unless he knocks out a good 100 and looks amazing then there really isn’t a place for him now the others are set. Unless others will look to downgrade an underperforming mid premo like Gaff to Phillips and use the cash elsewhere then there’s not really a place for him debuting now

Not sure even a 70 would have me jumping on board. 80+ yep. 70 I'd wait another week and see how he goes in game 2.
$266k is so steep.

The way I see it is, is Powell is 297 right now and should hopefully get one more game (who knows he could get dropped and then that's a spanner for everyone). If he gets one more game and scores at least a 60, then he goes up to around 330K while Phillips goes up to about 285-290K. You swap them over, gain 40K and lock in a guy who we all had in our teams pre-season, and who will likely play every match for the rest of the year

Hopefully this doesn't impact Lazarro's place in the side

Tyson -> Lazarro was going to be my move instead of trading Gaff.
That'd be such a kick in the teeth is Lazarro got dropped in the next 2 weeks lol.

Maybe i'm better off sitting on Tyson for 1 more week to find out the pecking order of all these North rooks.

Phillips/Powell/Lazarro... can they really play them all?

I'm more worried about Powell tbh - as he did sweet f a last week. Pretty guaranteed that it'll be Tyson out for Cunnington (sorry Neale4brownlow), and then it's one of Lazzaro or Powell for Phillips

That's like saying you don't gain money unless you sell the player.

What you should do though is look at the 2 scenarios, where you trade Gaff and when you don't and see how they compare.

Look at what you are not losing and what you are not gaining in each scenario.
This is technically true though..

But yeah you're right, have to look at the ying and yang of of it.

He may still have a purpose. Assuming Gulden can wangle DPP forward status that opens up a rookie spot on the ground for us from round 6 onwards.
My utility is Scott atm who will likely get dropped, so I'll happily trade him to Phillips if he's a gun.

Geez looks like I'll have to suck up my pride and potentially change tacts back to the Campbell camp.

Tyson -> Lazarro could be a total fail of a trade if he goes and gets dropped in the next 2-3 weeks. Which is a big big risk with Phillips now in the mix. Plus Cunnington back.

My Caldwell -> Hind and Tyson -> Lazarro ($380k cash for next week).
Could instead be Caldwell -> Campbell, Tyson to anyone under $750k. I'm thinking Crisp at this point using some DPP action. Crisp I think is a clear top 6 defender keeper so will never get any cheaper than he is now.

Dow. The other two can fight to the death this week. Atleast they have a ceiling higher than 50.

Hmm interesting. He was my least likely to trade, purely for money. I have to get rid of Caldwell and I already have Campbell, so am not totally clear on where to go with Dow. I could maybe afford an upgrade to Hind, or wait a week and see how Perkins goes and downgrade.

Whereas I could upgrade one of JDG/Stephenson to a Brayshaw/Martin, and go Caldwell -> Hind as my other trade. That leaves Spuddy Dow who can either sit on the bench for Bergman (if he plays) or wait another week.

Urghhh my forward line is such a mess...

I'm sticking with Frederick... But geez. That MID/FWD status and an extra $129k is so tempting. Can't risky that shakey JS though

Robertson was in my squad all preseason (and in many others i'm sure).

If he can have a decent game he might just be able to string a few together. Will need to see 1 game from him first though and bench option only.

Having a sighter on Phillips this week.
Still have Tom Green who may not even play again this week and will be downgraded next week to Phillips or Robertson.
Frees up a bit of coin along with the 71k I have for an upgrade elsewhere.

Now with 2 new names already coming in for their first game of 2020. And question marks over some popular picks in Scott/Bergman, this week might not be the best week to leave too much cash in the kitty.

Could be a double rook swap incomming next week.

Talked myself out of trading in the big Texan thank god

Scott > Lazarro
Cahill > Robertson

If either Scott/Cahill don't get dropped I am deeply afraid I'll be back on the train to Texas, destination f***ed

Robertson I would say has basically no JS at all, IMO. Berry surely returns next week, and that's him out again. He'd want to have an absolute blinder, otherwise, he'll be on the chopping block I'd say

He'd be an ok stepping stone, fit and in form, negative break even. I'll jump on the train.

Yeh, that's the worry I have + didn't even get named for the pre season game.
Plays first up too so I can't go back on a Bergman trade if he isn't named.

In other rook news, very happy to see Will Kelly returning via the vfl. Any collingwood supporters know when or if he may be likely to return to senior footy?

Surprisingly torn on the Hind v Walker option? Walker could grow a lot faster, whereas Hind will put up consistent scores around the 70-90 mark...

Hind. Hind could honestly be one of the last upgrades you’ll need to do if he keeps going the way he’s going

Which two of Dunks, Brayshaw or Crisp?

Like that Dunks and Crisp lock in a top 6 forward and a top 6 defender but it's hard to pass Brayshaw with the draw.
