I'm stuck with 2 options; Ridley (POD) plays 100% TOG and plays on every kick out (can't get tagged) v a genuine top 6 defender Stewart who has started slow and has RD12 bye which would be handy in 10 weeks haha. Thoughts?

Lloyd, Laird, ..... , Short, Markov, Young

Me too. Tex for 3 weeks into Hind will probably give an extra 60 points and 50k, but costs another trade...

The more I think about it, the more I don't think its worth it. It doesn't just cost another trade, but it also means that Walker could get stuck in your side if you get a bunch of forced trades.

I'm very happy going Caldwell -> Hind. My second trade is the dilemma:

De Goey -> Brayshaw/Dunkley
vs
Dow -> Noah Anderson.

The second one seems the more risky, but I'd be happier with JDG and Anderson sitting in my team than having Dow in it at all... BUT next week I could also just down grade Dow to an emerging rooky and push a Stephenson (****ing hell) to a Butters/Crouch/etc.

back in Rids, great POD, and the ball is gonna be in our backline a fair bit. Will be up there for a top 6 defender at the end of the season too I reckon!

Campbell vs Lazarro +100k. Will be on field

Yesterday I said Lazarro and the 100k.
But today/tonight I'm thinking of just banking Campbell given its on field and he can't (shouldn't?) get dropped any time soon.
Lazarro is on thin ice..so many rookies to play in that side.

I'm looking at a premo Def this week too.. for me it's rids or crisp.
Think im taking crisp at this point. That role through the middle looked divine.

He was my VC loop in rd 1...finally I'm ahead of the game.

I went Ely Smith :( , I seem to read every week how he 'dominates the VFL practice match' yet he's gone from being on the brink to off the emergency list altogether.

Out of curiosity, who had you settled on prior to the change

Asking for a friend......

I went Brayshaw but it meant I had to bench Powell which wasn't ideal (need DPP to hurry the hell up!). Read through here and someone mentioned the fact he kicked 2 goals last week which was a good point I think so I went somewhat cold on him, still a good option just can't trust the surname. Stephenson to Dusty is on the cards for me next week though if this weekend pans out the way I expect. I've never been too big on Dusty but can't ignore his start to the season and the lack of premo forwards.

Thinking of Dusty myself at the moment

Out: Heppell, Caldwell
In: Lazzaro (Campbell to field), D.Martin

$170k in bank

Everyone who said keep Stewart, who would you trade out of Clark, Sholl and Stepho then

I'm leaning Stepho but I just brought him in last week so it seems a waste
Personally, I only have Clark out of those, and have already said I will be giving him at least one more week, especially against Hawthorn.

Sholl and Stephenson both have the same BE, but Stephenson plays the Doggies and Sholl is against Gold Coast. Add to that Stephenson is 62K more expensive, and I would say get rid of Stephenson.

As always, I have no cars or hats, so don't claim to be an expert :)

Don’t really see any need to get in Phillips now. We are getting good scores from Gulden, Jordan and Powell has been decent. Unless he knocks out a good 100 and looks amazing then there really isn’t a place for him now the others are set. Unless others will look to downgrade an underperforming mid premo like Gaff to Phillips and use the cash elsewhere then there’s not really a place for him debuting now

Just on this (given it's relevant), DPP switches in Round 6 should be a definite consideration moving forward (another reason why I'll consider Phillips if he has a decent week and is named on ball the following week).

Was listening to the Trader's podcast last night (funniest one in a while - absolute pisser and definitely worth a listen), and they discussed some DPP possibilities come Round 6 -

Hind - DEF guaranteed
Campbell - DEF guaranteed
Gulden - FWD guaranteed
Bergman - DEF very likely
Tom Atkins - DEF guaranteed (not mentioned but this is a gimme)
Treloar - a possibility of fwd status at this stage according to CD? Think it unlikely though given Bevo's comments on ramping up Treloar's mid time moving forward.

But the big one, TT has started 62% of his game time in the forward half - meaning if he plays that same split over the next two games - he becomes a forward.

So basically, using my current team as an example, this is how things could look come Round 6:

DEF: Laird, Doch, Hardwick, Hind, Clark, Fantasia (trade Highmore out for forward player to replace Hind)

MID: Macrae, Zerrett, Cogs, Walsh (traded in player to replace Taranto via Walker trade out), (traded in player to replace Gulden via Bergman out), Powell, Jordon

RUC: Grundy, Flynn

FWD: Dunkley, Taranto, Phillips, (trade Walker out for midfield player to replace Taranto) Gulden, (traded in player to replace Hind fwd via Highmore trade out), Warner, (trade Bergman out for midfield player to replace Gulden)

****************

Basically means, that the midfield is actually where you're probably most likely to have spots free (well I am anyway, haha) - due to rooks like Gulden moving forward (Campbell moving back too if you have him in the mids), and a premo like TT moving forward (quite possibly).

Changes planning quite a bit IMO, and it's why if Phillips scores really well/his JS is cemented, I'm gonna pay up for that JS given how depleted my midfield line could be once DPP rolls around/rooks up forward are getting dropped left, right and center

Just some food for thought :)

With the news that Bergman looks likely to be dropped, I realize that I have just enough cash (3K left over) to stick with my trades but do them from rookies instead - giving me no risk trades this week.

This does mean that I have to keep Kmart Dusty for one last week, but the way I see it, even at his worst, he probably outscores Bergman even if he does end up playing. Even if JDG only scores a 60, his BE is just 85 right now, so he's dropping a max of 15K - but I'm getting a guaranteed score.

If I drop JDG and then Bergman doesn't play - then I have to field Rowe or Scott (if he's named). Neither probably score more than JDG, so it's probably the lowest risk strategy and it brings in the players I wanted to bring in regardless.

Essentially -

Idun > Hardwick
Bergman > Walker

This gives me:

DEF: Laird, Doch, Hardwick, Clark, Fantasia, Highmore (Kozi, Briggs)

MID: Macrae (C), Zerrett, Cogs, Walsh, TT, Powell, Gulden, Jordon (Brockman, Sharp - to be traded out to Phillips if he goes well, at the end of lockout)

RUC: Grundy (VC), Flynn (Meek)

FWD: Dunks, Phillips, De Goey (to be traded down at the end of lockout), Walker, Hind, Warner (Rowe, Scott)

UTL: Hunter

****************************************************************************************************

What do you reckon peeps, is this the right strategy, or should I be dropping JDG instead and hoping Bergman keeps his spot? I'm pretty confident this is the right move after (far far too much) thinking about it - but let me know if I'm missing something obvious :)

Where is the news coming from? Seems to be amongst a few suggested outs on the PA board, but nothing else that is definitive?

Some in the Port media, alongside the 'In the Mix' article, are predicting the outs as Bergman and Farrell, for Rozee and Marshall

Young gun Connor Rozee is available so expect the exciting midfielder/forward to come straight back to face West Coast. The Power have a big decision to make in attack, however, where Mitch Georgiades booted four goals after replacing Todd Marshall due to a sore back. It will be near impossible to drop Georgiades after that performance, but Marshall is rated highly at Port and demands selection if fit. A taller forward line is the likely solution, forcing one of the Eagles' medium defenders to play tall. The Power are otherwise in a strong position and unlikely to make other changes after going 2-0 against Essendon.

R2 medical substitute: Tom Rockliff (unused)

Verdict:
Rozee and Marshall for Farrell and Bergman, who replaces Rockliff as medical substitute

Ah ok interesting. Wasn't doubting you was just wondering where you were finding it.

I think it's safer to trade him over De Goey, to answer your original q. I'm facing a similar but different dilemma with offloading Dow over JDG this week as well. I can't get the same caliber of player, but I do get him off my team...

Haha, nah, doubt away. Who knows, they might get it all wrong and Berg plays - but at least if I don't trade JDG, I can wait and see who gets named/dropped/possibly injured at training, lol - so it's the safer option with there being some doubt on some of the rooks.

I'd definitely offload Dow, as the kid is such a pleb, lol. Could always bring in someone like Phillips with some DPP action, if you were confident he'd keep his spot? It's tough with rookie JS, but Dow is so useless that I think anything would be an upgrade at this stage, haha

Really at a crossroads as to whether to chase Tex's price rise or go with Markov for some steady 80-95's???

Farrell will make way for Rozee.

I can't see them going with Ladhams, Dixon, Georgiades and Marshall up forward.
