Struggling with trades this week with rolling teams!!

With the rumours mentioned just now of Bergman dropped along with Scott and Cahill looking unlikely to play, should I fix red dots (number 1 rule normally)

Bergman > Perkins
Cahill > Lazzaro

Or should I look at fixing on field first with

JDG > Dunkley & Cahill/Scott/Bergman > Perkins/Lazzaro

Or

JDG > Hind
Young > Ridley

231k in the bank!

'Tis a good question and one a lot of us are grappling with. There are rumours (or potential additions to the North side in the coming weeks) that Lazarro might not have much JS either - so that is throwing a spanner in the works.

Normally - we'd have an idea before the first game tonight - who is in the squads. This way, we know next to nothing....

Is Hardwick really worth it? I'm really torn on this move - I can't quite afford to get up to Bowes from Dow, and I get that Hardwick's BE is relatively low. But he's going to have to go at just below 90 to make 100k on his current price over the next 6 weeks.

With Stephenson already spudding up my forward line, I'm worried about getting stuck in mid price weeds.

I know. I cannot find good moves that I like and can trust this week. The stupid rolling lockout just makes it worse.....

The two best performers (or close to) in mid priced land, where I can get to are: N Anderson and Hardwick. They both looked really good last week, but will it last ?? There are next to no rookies coming through, certainly none likely to be announced for tonight....

I'm in the exact same toss up. Hardwick seems the slightly safer of the two in terms of a guaranteed return in investment. But Anderson probably has the better role for more consistent scoring? If Anderson's R1 60odd was an 80odd instead, I would feel so much more confident.

It's so hard, especially with this added game on Friday arvo before sat teams. My hard and fast rule normally is no red dots. But is there any point trading a red dot if the incoming player is going to be red in the next two weeks? Now that I'm thinking about it, JDG still has to go but at least young is playing down back, I'll wait for dogs north teams tonight to see movements of scott/Lazzaro and then use my second trade to move on a Cahill/Bergman/Scott type to Perkins who I see playing week on week. Only risk I run is next week having two more non playing players and other issues!! Ahh, hate this rolling teams!!

No, Bowes has looked very good and is on designated kickouts, Hardwick scored very well (and looked good) vs a high mark team. Priced at 71, what do you see him avging, 80? Remembering that day played wing so his absence won't fully be absorbed by the back 6.

I'm looking at both !!!

Anderson had 66 away against WCE, with Nic Nat in good form. Then 120 v North. Has Adelaide, Carlton, Dogs and Swans in next four matches. He looked really good v North, a class above...

I'm looking at a premo Def this week too.. for me it's rids or crisp.
Think im taking crisp at this point. That role through the middle looked divine.
If i had a bit more cash i would be going Crisp 100% he will be my next target unless Whitfields comes in and plummets

Just on this (given it's relevant), DPP switches in Round 6 should be a definite consideration moving forward (another reason why I'll consider Phillips if he has a decent week and is named on ball the following week).

Was listening to the Trader's podcast last night (funniest one in a while - absolute pisser and definitely worth a listen), and they discussed some DPP possibilities come Round 6 -

Hind - DEF guaranteed
Campbell - DEF guaranteed
Gulden - FWD guaranteed
Bergman - DEF very likely
Tom Atkins - DEF guaranteed (not mentioned but this is a gimme)
Treloar - a possibility of fwd status at this stage according to CD? Think it unlikely though given Bevo's comments on ramping up Treloar's mid time moving forward.

But the big one, TT has started 62% of his game time in the forward half - meaning if he plays that same split over the next two games - he becomes a forward.

So basically, using my current team as an example, this is how things could look come Round 6:

DEF: Laird, Doch, Hardwick, Hind, Clark, Fantasia (trade Highmore out for forward player to replace Hind)

MID: Macrae, Zerrett, Cogs, Walsh (traded in player to replace Taranto via Walker trade out), (traded in player to replace Gulden via Bergman out), Powell, Jordon

RUC: Grundy, Flynn

FWD: Dunkley, Taranto, Phillips, (trade Walker out for midfield player to replace Taranto) Gulden, (traded in player to replace Hind fwd via Highmore trade out), Warner, (trade Bergman out for midfield player to replace Gulden)

****************

Basically means, that the midfield is actually where you're probably most likely to have spots free (well I am anyway, haha) - due to rooks like Gulden moving forward (Campbell moving back too if you have him in the mids), and a premo like TT moving forward (quite possibly).

Changes planning quite a bit IMO, and it's why if Phillips scores really well/his JS is cemented, I'm gonna pay up for that JS given how depleted my midfield line could be once DPP rolls around/rooks up forward are getting dropped left, right and center

Just some food for thought :)
Campbell is already MID/FWD unless we get our first TPP ? DEF/MID/FWD

Struggling with this week, have nailed most rookies thus far so not too sure what to do. Dow has to go but having a hard time getting him to anyone! Which of these is preferred:
1) Dow/A.Scott to Bergman(or Perkins)/Lazarro +168k
2) Dow/J.Clark to Zac Williams/Lazarro
3) Dow/Serong to Crisp/Bergman (or Lazarro) +73k

At this stage I’m thinking 1 if Scott is dropped and 3 otherwise, but trading out Serong seems risky!

I'd be fixing your rookies, Sharp, Scott and Cahill first thing.

I think Bergman will play, so from your options above, I would go with Cahill, Scott to Lazzaro, Perkins / Robertson

The thing with mid pricers at the moment, is they are doing as well as the 'premos', so I'm not too concerned about being stuck with them. If in 2 or 3 weeks the premos start behaving like premos, trade in a couple of mid pricers (eg Young, Stephenson) for a G'n'R approach (eg Crisp + 170k)

The difficulty with fixing your rookies is : who to ??

I can go Sharp to L Young and Scott to Rowe for example as individual trades - but then I'm using my small amount of spare change upgrading rookies to other rookies - who might get dropped next week ?? If I fix both - the best average I can bring in in defence is 48...

It's not like we are flush for new 170K options coming in - even if Hawks and Geelong decide to blood 3 each this week - we cannot wait until Sunday night to get the squads named to go back in time and select these new rookies.

This week is a tough one, it's not going to get much easier either....

Woah Campbell for Def would be insanely valuable. My defense is a rabble. I'll happily say my comments earlier in the week that campbell wasn't worth it for $312k was garbage advice haha. His job security and field worthyness make him worth it. His possibility of defense make him absolute gold.

Hind def status almost becomes irrelevant at this point though.. seems like the most rabble spot on our fields is forward at the moment. But it may still come in handy.

Good call on Phillips. Lazarro might also be a great pickup now but I think I'll wait 1 more week on him. The introduction of Phillips into that side has me spooked a bit. I don't know much about North but can they really play all 3 consistently? They want to blood the youth, but they can't afford to get steamrolled every game like last week.

So the added drama we'll have with North is they could bump 1 of Powell/Phillips/Lazarro out on any given week. And of course next week they play Sunday.

The likely rookies to get dropped (Scott/Port play Friday and first up saturday before we know sunday teams).

Agree they probably won't give Treloar fwd status... they never give us anything too juicy or straight forward.

EDIT: Have missed my morning coffee and forgotten Campbell is already mid/fwd haha. Is there another Campbell I'm missing who's getting def? Or typo? They can't change players with 2x DPP's or add a third I don't think.

No players can get 3 positions so Campbell will stay Mid/Fwd.
I find this interesting...If a player starts the season as DPP but actually plays another position 100% of the time, he can't be selected in that position.

e.g. If Flynn goes down with an injury, Briggs comes in as his replacement. He's currently Fwd/Def, so won't be able to be picked as a ruck even if he does 100% of CBAs for the rest of the year for GWS.

If you don't have too many of these types in your side I think it's fine.
But otherwise i suggest steer clear. Its very unlikely they suddenly become premos given the wealth of history behind them saying they're a spud.

I've found myself with too many of these names in my squad so I'm just going to take some names I 100% trust this week and then reassess next week.

What about Fyfe forward???

Just noticed by round 6 my forward line F4,F5,F6 could be Campbell, Gulden, Warner...

It's like that moment in a horror movie the protagonist is walking through a dark woods and suddenly realises everything is quiet.... too quiet.

This is all going according to Horse's plan isn't it....
**** me why did you have to put that thought in my head since that is exactly my F4/5/6 come round 6 you evil bastard

Yeh, would be good to put it to the test so they change the rules. It came up one year, It might've even been when Yeo was Mid/Fwd but played the whole year off half back.
