AFL staffers with a gun to their head.Who the fu** are those 5.5% of people....
If you went set and forget with Gawn and Grundy, they have scored you 1573 so far this year.Set and forget is much less stressful but I don't necessarily think it was the best move so far this year. Neither have gained value, so having just one for a C option is good then chase value elsewhere.
I started with Gawn and brought in Grundy last week. Means I've had cash to get guys like Tex, Stephenson and Cummings I wouldn't otherwise.
However with Flynn's non-selection, now is the time to upgrade.
That said, McEllroy would have been a nice R2 if you started with him.

The next best two that have played all games is ROB and Nank, who together would have scored you 1162, a difference of 411 points, and you wouldn't put a C or VC on either of them.
Flynn has scored 317 in four games, plus give all his owners headaches (or at least Leon has).
Personal opinion, but I'm very glad I went Gawndy from the start. Flynn is sitting at R3, with maybe another 100K to grow if he gets a game, but I can also trade him out earlier if I need the cash for someone else.
It's nearly impossible to figure out but you have to factor in what people did with the extra cash from not starting with Gawn/Grundy combo. Keep in mind the extra cash for most people was 2-3 mid pricers or 1-2 premiums on field. Certainly less headaches with it thoughIf you went set and forget with Gawn and Grundy, they have scored you 1573 so far this year.

I've played set and forget rucks since the days of Dean Cox. It was an annual ritual... log in to Fantasy (or DT as it was back then), register team name, select Cox at R1.Starting Gawndy was a win for sure.
But I'm not too unhappy with how it panned out for me though starting Grundy/Flynn then getting Gawn after Round 4 (admittedly after having to field meek for a 27 one).
People still without Gawn atm might still not be too unhappy given he's dropping in price. But it's not a fun area of your team to spend multiple trades on through the year.

The idea of starting one of Gawndy with Flynn when Marshall could sit as a premium FWD and break glass R2 had a lot of merit. The extra cash would have been another premo in the Mids. Without Marshall, it has meant a lot of people taking crap scores from Meek, Burgess etc, and then having to burn trades to get a new R2.It's nearly impossible to figure out but you have to factor in what people did with the extra cash from not starting with Gawn/Grundy combo. I started with Gawn, Flynn and Hunter. Most weeks I was getting 50-90 from my R2 (ok, there was one 0) until I upgraded last week. The idea of starting one of Gawndy with Flynn when Marshall could sit as a premium FWD and break glass R2 had a lot of merit. About the only plan that has worked to some extent was having Big Boy as a back up, but even he has put out a couple of rubbish scores.
I'm sure there are people out there who have done better by not going Gawndy, but I reckon they are in the minority.
Someone posted a stat from twitter it a week or two back. It showed a break down of ruck contests between Gawn and Jackson from rounds 1-5. Each round it swung more and more in Jackson's favour. Probably accounts for why Gawn went sub 80 on the weekend. Can definitely see that happening a few more times this year. It's still a great floor to have thoughWhile Gawn is still obviously one of your best two ruck options I do think with the rise of Jackson (looks like he will be a star) Gawns scoring output will be a bit suppressed this year. Especially against bottom 8 sides were Jackson seems to be getting way more centre bounce time.
I am a very happy Gawn owner but certainly think he’s not the set and forget C/VC option he once was.
I think there's an AF VFL game you can sign up for...Highmore - 30 disposals
Treacy - 5 goals
Meek - 23 disp 8 clearances
Brockman - Named in their bests (3 goals?)
My 4 red dots..
Kent Brockman will be back this week but i am done convincing myself Highmore will ever return... They actually played well for once so no chance this weekHighmore - 30 disposals

Meek - 23 disp 8 clearances

We just need to trade Highmore out to get him back I reckon.Kent Brockman will be back this week but i am done convincing myself Highmore will ever return... They actually played well for once so no chance this week
Unless?

Last week i had an entire bench of red dots and Flynn on field as a red dot (damn you Leon !!)Based upon last week, I have Sharp (who ??) and Flynn (damn you Leon !!) as red dots.
Hopefully an injury/drama free week at selection.....
P.s i want to add to this i have tried to fix my bench each week as well, it is not neglected.Last week i had an entire bench of red dots and Flynn on field as a red dot (damn you Leon !!)
Somehow still hit 2k and went up in the ranks

Having not really done this before, I used my non forced trades to sideways at the higher end rather than fixing my bench. Lesson learnt for next year. The week prior, I only had A Scott as (E) across the 8 possible players... It can turn around quickly, but repeated forced trades (Witts, Butters, Dunkley, carrying Daniel, Dusty etc) has just cost me hugely in the rankings.... Hopefully better times ahead....
