I watched Jarrod Cameron play against Collingwood at Optus Stadium a couple of years back. He was absolutely electrifying. Has all the talent in the world and I'm super excited that he might be joining us.

Quite a bit to be excited about re: Jarrod Cameron if it eventuates. The thought of both Cameron brothers in the forward line is a pretty thrilling one.

We have been more than fair traders for a long time (well, maybe except for the Beams back to Pies deal) and have always tried to do right by our players when in this same situation so wouldn't doubt at all that we will do the fair thing....

I come in peace.

The jungle drums have been sounding all year that he will be heading to Brisbane ... meaning the city .... and by extension to you guys.

Terrific kid, bit immature and very lost and it's a lonely place being in rehab, plus travel to see his family has been compromised due to Covid.

Would think he has told WC that he is walking away from the game and we can do one of three things.

Hold him on the list for another 12 months ( highly doubt that we do this as its not usually our Clubs way ) , or we delist him and you guys get a free hit and pick him up for nothing .

We could engage with your recruiters and just trade him for a very late nothing pick ..... we generally don't screw genuine cases of when player want out if its for the right reasons.

If we trade him for nothing it's an action of good will to both you and him..... hope that you guys remember it ...but thats a real "what if " as it's an odd case where Clubs bank goodwill.

I suspect you get a very, very talented player that needs some nurturing and a bit of TLC and being around his brother and extended family will help that.

Think that you guys will be smiling big time in two or three years and will have a wonderful player on your list .

Very sad and sorry to be loosing him , but I wish him all the best in his future.
I’d trade you back Tom Joyce if I were involved with our club.

I know you guys need young mids, and Joyce has ability, he just also has issues with bon fires, but can play.

Would be great adding Cameron, seemed like a really good player when he was in the side and l am pretty sure we actually bid for him. May be a bit of a problem due to us having quite a few small forwards: Rayner, Cocky, Cameron, McCarthy, Zorko will probably go there next year, younger Coleman brother and maybe 1 more l might be missing too.
Ah Chee.

Do you remember the gift of Witherden and Yeo for 4th round and 2nd round picks? Id say we've given you more than fair deals and are due for something back!

Not the point of the video, but that Naitanui one handed pick up in the wet was ridiculous.

From memory and what that video doesn't show, is that Cameron is quite good at applying pressure and is a willing chaser and tackler in the forward half.

Injuries and a lack of dedication to training (from all reports) are his biggest obstacles. If he thinks he'll be in a better position to move from Perth and be with Charlie you'll be getting an absolute bargain if you get him fit.

Two bags of 4 in his first handful of games, that's rare. Inconsistent after that but no surprise for a small forward. He's a great pressure player and tackler and it's been a real shame we haven't been able to get him on to the park.

LIONS' LIST DILEMMA

BRISBANE is facing a delicate scenario with its list structure heading into the off-season with 35 of its current 37 senior-listed players contracted for next year.

Tom Joyce and Brock Smith remain without a 2022 deal with the Lions among the clubs in the tightest predicament for list spots.

Clubs have been informed they must take at least three players in the NAB AFL Draft this season with senior list sizes able to carry a maximum of 38 players.

Should Joyce or Smith win a new deal for next season, it would ensure the Lions would need to delist and re-rookie a player in order to take the adequate picks at the draft – if they don't lose a contracted player.

It means the Lions are unlikely to be able to attract a player from a rival club in the trade and free agency window unless they move on both out-of-contract players, delist and re-rookie others and farewell Lachie Neale or trade another player with a deal for 2022.

Neale this week asked the Lions for more time to weigh up formally requesting a trade back to Fremantle despite having two years to run on his contract.

Should Neale return to WA and Joyce and Smith depart the Lions, it would leave the Lions with four senior list spots to play with.
The ability for a player to stay on the rookie list for a fourth season will ensure the Lions don't have to promote James Madden, who joined in 2019, to the senior list next season.

Rookies Grant Birchall, Connor Ballenden, Archie Smith and Kalin Lane are also uncontracted for next year.

Any deal for Neale would likely secure the Lions draft picks, with rival clubs on notice that it could involve Brisbane bundling picks together to move up the draft or pushing into next year. The Lions already hold picks 14, 18, 47 and 51 as it currently stands inside the first three rounds.

EDIT: just makes it worse that we have to continue to carry CEY & Ely for another year.

From memory Jarrod Cameron was in our plans on draft night but the Eagles reached for him and screwed our plans.

Ah yes that's right, he was part of their academy, yet was born in Qld. Maybe he wanted to head back to qld to be reuinted with his family all along 🤔

Charlie's comment during draft time was Jarrod had all his friends and network back in WA so his preference would be to stay there. I'm guessing injury / long re-hab may have changed things now.

It's good he could come onboard in 2023 - he'll be 22 then and a bit more maturity around what's needed to succeed at this level. Charlie around would make a world of difference too.

Callum Sinclair anyone? For the year to replace Hipwood/Fullarton?
