Isn't it convenient that a player who wants to go to Perth for family reasons picked only Fremantle? The rumour doesn't even mention west coast at all, which is interesting considering his reason is for family? If that was the case, why not allow us to trade him to west coast if we could get a better deal out of it?

West coast couldn't offer a better deal if they wanted.

Yeo, Redden and Witho. If we push real hard they'll throw in Bradd Dalziell as a water runner.

He's a contracted player who is already spoken to a coach of an opposition club before the trade period has even started. Who knows, he probably talked to him before he told anyone in the club as well. You can defend this, but I'm not. I'm sure he has his reasons for returning, but surely honouring his contract and leaving for Perth when it's over is the least he could do.
Once I was as naive as you.

You need to grow up, have a family, and learn how the AFL works.

Let’s go for Clayton Oliver. No reason other than he was a lions supporter. Oh and I hear he’s pretty good.

This sucks, I know we were 7-0 without Lachie this season, but that was with Zorko taking on a lot more midfield time. Just don't think there's a replacement for Lachie on the market right now, and it does mean all the opposition attention will now trickle on to one of our younger midfielders.

Let's keep this going.

Neale back to Freo for Catlton's pick 6 they get for Cerra. Neale is now a brownlow medalist so we want more.

Brisbane get pick 6 and Rory Lobb with Freo paying half his salary for the next 2 years which gives them cap space for Neale.

Brisbane have a forward/ruck we need and Hipwood replacement for most of next year.

We on-trade pick six to Hawthorne who are rebuilding for Tom Mitchell because he doesn't want to be there through a re-bulid of sorts.

Mitchell into our mid-field with Rayner back and Cockatoo fit.

** the Neale's were back in WA in May, yes Jules has her friends there (her wifey as she calls her) but she does claim her 'Brisbane Family' and thanked them on the gender reveal for the pending birth of their daughter. Jules had 3 months to go in early July so early November is the birth date. Linc McArthy is meant to be a great mate and his wife also had a baby early this year. Love the conspiracy theories.

Whole threads disappeared now since my post haha

You also can't take much from Lachie's performance and his effect on the team as a whole this year considering he was barely fit for any of it. Guy was incredibly unlucky.

Lions vs Dockers at the gabba round 1??? What a way to end this weekend 😔

We don't need a like for like replacement. Good chance to reshape a midfield that was a little too much meat and potatoes at times.

If you caught him on the roar deal, he said he enjoyed his time away from football this year. He obviously has been disconnected from the club throughout the year, perhaps due to covid and his partner obviously wanting to move back to western Australia.

That is probably what a lot of people including myself have overlooked. The crappy year may have even compounded the other issues around family etc.

I'd hope people don't boo him. He is a Brownlow Medallist, two times best and fairest, three-finals series player and has played with genuine dedication.

But we do need a quality player. Going in with Matho or a kid will kill any chance of us winning a premiership in the next few years. I'm trying to picture Parker. I think he is explosive in the contest.

West Coast have pick 10 & 29 and bugger all cap space. Not overly enticing for us wouldn't you say?

We booed Josh schache last night lmao

There's no chance he doesn't get booed sadly.

Hahaha trust me, after that bulldogs game, I realised how harsh this game is.
I mean the trade game.

Most serious discussions between clubs, players and agents occur between June and August.

The Lions are just as active talking to players on other teams during this period as are all other clubs.

Oh that's sweet. Of course they are going to boo him. Even if we try not to, it'll slip out at some point.

Parker or Hopper would be great gets.

In any case, we need more dynamism in the midfield next year. Need Bailey, Rayner and Cockatoo rotating through to mix things up.

If Lachie's deal was front-loaded will there even be enough for Parker?

In any case; we won without him. Hugh gets to shine where he plays best. We get an early pick/injection of talent (which feels like a bit of a need having traded out of our first last year and Ely Smith not working out).
