Way too much smoke for this not to be true.

We've got a good hand here. We don't have to trade him and Freo knows he might be the player to take them back to finals while Fyfe is still around. If he goes, they will have to pay a fair price for him. Only problem is we are about to enter a year that we should expect a grand final appearance, need to get a good player out of this.

Feather in cap

Parker or Hopper would be great gets.

In any case, we need more dynamism in the midfield next year. Need Bailey, Rayner and Cockatoo rotating through to mix things up.

Agreed we don't necessarily need a like for like, I just meant someone of Lachie's calibre to demand the opposition's defensive attention.

Rayner and Bails would be good, not sure if Cam is the two way running midfielder we are hoping for though. The way Cockatoo is moving at the moment, just can't quite see him ever getting back that burst of pace required for him to really add much to our midfield.

I'd hope people don't boo him. He is a Brownlow Medallist, two times best and fairest, three-finals series player and has played with genuine dedication.
I hope they don't but it's going to happen, gave his all to the club when he was here but It does hurt him leaving when we are so close to having some success and he is a big part of it

Good reason to target someone younger. Welcome to Brisbane - Jacob Hopper!?

West Coast have pick 10 & 29 and bugger all cap space. Not overly enticing for us wouldn't you say?

We won’t be going for him. Our players took a 7 percent pay cut this year as a collective on the proviso we wouldn’t use the money to recruit a big name in the off season. Not that we could afford it anyway, our cap is maxed. We’ll be hitting the draft.

From someone who has lost a brownlow medallist (Judd) and thought it was all doom and gloom let me just say that your list is pretty damn healthy from an age point of view and I’m pretty sure you will re jig some positions and still be a powerhouse next year. Your list is far healthier than ours was when Judd left AND who knows who you will draft with the picks. You seem to be pretty good at finding the right kind of players recently.

Just do us all a favour and gut the pricks (Freo) for us all.

Bruv if you're getting baited by me posting, it may be a long trade season for you.
Not gonna lie, I wasn’t sure if there was some restraint of trade loophole that I didn’t know about :p.

Bit of a shock to hear about Neale. But footy is a job and family comes first
People have thrown around Parker as a possibility for Neal replacement. At first glance that should work out okay
So below comparison Neale stats for 2020 v Parker 2021. Used 2020 for Neale as this year was an injury interrupted one for him

Is Hopper a restricted free agent or do we have to trade for him?

I keep thinking of @dlanod’s assessment of Hopper.

Would be a trade. Thus Parker is a much more appealing target.

So we kinda need starc in the midfield more than ever now.
With Answerth ready to go, Coleman now playing back, and Lester and Ah Chee not named in the 22 last night we can definitely cover him. With his build he could be one of the toughest mids in the game.

Neale and 18 for 6, 8 & 27
8, 14 & our future first to GC for pick 3 and their future second

We end up with 3, 6 & 27 and keep our second plus gc second for ashcroft next year.

Time to start going trade crazy again

Honestly I think we'll end up with one of the top 10 picks from Freo and that's about it which I wouldn't be too disappointed with, especially if we're able to use that money for Parker.

Gives you options though trade up and grab one of the elite talents or you could bring in a kpf and develop him slowly

Gives you flexibility with future picks

Can absolutely make the best of a shit situation
