I think we were actually quite unlikely to take another 18 year old. We can assume that we had Drury pretty high on our order which forced our hand. That combined with the fact he is the perfect cultural fit, probably made it too good to refuse.

I have no problem with taking Drury if he's actually on their draft board. We can still add Shiels and someone else right?

Why? One of the shallowest drafts in recent memory and we elected to rookie some players who prepare well and have good character. One of them already well liked teammate. Whilst I would have preferred we tried something different, there's no reason to be unhappy that the last two picks in the rookie draft we went the way we did.

Half the kids drafted are wastes of spots as they actually never fulfill their potential.

I don’t mind the Free pick. The cupboard is pretty bare after Goldy, with X still not demanding that #1 spot, CCJ average at best as a pure ruck and Edwards still developing.

Free is actually a low cost free hit. If he comes on then great, if not he will join a long list of drafted players that don’t make the grade.

I know nothing about Drury and we will just have to trust Clarko on Howe and Turner. I would think he had a major say on the recycled players he wants in his system, so not sure that was a Brady call.

But like most yes I am a little disappointed that we didn’t try someone else over both considering their output at AFL level.
