So we were happy to trade the farm to try and get pick 4, but timid in giving up little to move up for Cowan?

Either we are lame or didn't have him high on our boards. Boo! Guess we can find a 5 foot tall winger instead.
The guy was a big chance to go home to tassie when a team enters the AFL.

And still is.

Big reward for Carlton if they can hang onto him though. He was probably a top 20 pick if he'd come from somewhere like Ringwood.

Its a ridiculous thought. All he said was he would love to play for a Tassie team, not that he would be homesick. A Tassie team which is over 5 years or more away. WA and SA players have just as much risk of wanting to go home yet we draft them. He is a mature player with leadership qualities, not a mummys boy. People are making an imaginary a threat that does not exist right now. I don't buy into the flight risk scare some here run with.

Van E's and Binns gone. Leaves Hotton I think as one player we were linked to that has not been picked yet

I had Hotton rated top 20. At this point I'd be looking to trade up to secure him. Extreme speed and a beautiful ball user. Starts as a forward, ends up a mid/wing.
Hoping for Hotton personally. Can he play wing though?

I know he started the season slow, and burst into draft calculations with a good back half of the year. So obviously we'd hope he is consistent and had found his position of strength.

Has the speed, ball-winning ability and ball use, not too sure about his endurance but that can be worked on.

As much as I hate to say it, but Carlton have nailed it in addressing their outside needs. Perhaps even going overboard a little.

Hollands, Binns, and Cowan. Cowan will probably take over from Docherty going forward. But like the other two, can run through the wing as well

They will be a very good team across the next few years as much as I hate to admit it.
