Captains 2022 Fantasy Captains and Vice Captains Selection

Just an FYI for those looking to VC Steele or trade him in, his old team (as is the case for a lot of players for some reason) is by far his worst team to score against.

In his last 6 vs GWS over the past 5 seasons, these are his scores (2021 going backwards):

Fantasy scores - 78, 109*, 71, 75, 89, 74
Disposal numbers - 19, 18, 24, 24, 24, 16

Every score under 90 bar one, and 3 scores under 80. His only high score of 109 - in the covid affected season of 2020 where he scored 86 which ended up being an adjusted 109 - , he only had 18 disposals, but he kicked 2 goals and had 7 tackles which got him to a decent score. Has also never had more than 24 disposals against the Giants, since he moved to the Saints in 2017.

Had him locked earlier in the week, but that is a hard trend to ignore and am definitely considering just flicking the VC to Smith and going the safe route and putting the C on Gawn.

I've been straight out C on him each week, kinda like the idea of picking one guy who you think will average the most for the year and just riding it all year. So far that's gotten me a 111 captain average which would be as good as most I'd reckon without having to stuff around each week with looping etc.

Having said that, given those numbers, lucky its the perfect week to VC him then

Brayshaw would be my best bet as C this week. Carlton just doesn't tag or generally defend through the middle, the entire midfield strategy is basically 'smash 'em or bust'.

Brayshaw will also probably rack up 100 after half time when Carlton revert to type and surrender the corridor and essentially just stop playing football.

My only red dot (Dixon) ‘plays’ mid-Saturday arvo so the VC will have to come before then. Hence probably going with Laird VC into new recruit Petracca C

Not really but Butters has the ability to go big

So why not take a risk on him for VC with plenty of backup for C it isn't a problem if it fails and if he goes bang it could prove a point of difference and help me climb the ranks

Gut feeling says Steele tackles his way to a 120 tonight. Right now it’s looking like he’s bad games are 100, so he only needs to get off the chain for 1 quarter and he’s going 115+ I feel

I’m pretty confident on Gawn and Oliver v Richmond so happy to take a punt on Steele
