On further analysis, what Selby should have said, is don't pick ANY of the top averaging players from ANY line.

Top 3 FWD: Taranto (904K), Duncan (841K) and Anderson (792K)

Top 3 DEF: Hall (914K), Crisp (854K) and Ziebell (839K)

Top 3 RUC: Gawn (912K), Grundy (893K) and S. Darcy (786K)

Top 5 MID: Touk (1.024K), Steele (1.018K), Lyons (982K), Macrae (972K) and Titch (969K)

You could make an argument, that you didn't need to start ANY of them, and rather brought them in through trades instead.

Only Macrae, Gawn and Crisp were worth starting at their prices...out of the top 14 players in their respective lines. Crazy.
This is right.. now someone post this in the 2023 Rate My Team Thread now so we don't forget.

I made room for four of these guys in my starting squad (bolded) and earlier iterations of my team (before rookies firmed) also had Hall and Duncan in them.

As others have mentioned, the value of a trade is such that as long as they're still top in their division - like Touk, Gawn, Steel, Macrae and Grundy were (pre injury for Grundy) then you can afford to not always pick a guy with upside, but in hindsight 4 was probably too many. Maybe next year i'll try and limit myself to two for Captain and Vice Captain option and then try and pick more upside premiums.

Swap Steele and Touk and I did the same 4. Grundy will be cheap as next year too. "Value" bahahahahhahaha

I guess the downside with that is you're then trying to pick premiums who aren't currently 'locks' as being a top 6-8 in their line.

Easier said than done. You can't expect to nail them all.

This year had plenty of bargains that were no brainers (eg Sicily) such that we sort of had spare cash anyway to take 3-4 of those big dogs and have confidence atleast they were a good chance of being 'must haves' through the year.

I guess my point being its rather easy to just post stats that every top priced player has lost value (of course they have!?). They only had one way to go. But that's not why you pick them.

Imagine if you only picked players with upside. Then you'd be picking guys like Guthrie, Parish, Simpkin, Adams, Green at the start of the year... and you're team would be diabolical atm.

Eagles have a full 17 players injured and the weekly H&S protocol list for the fit ones hasn't even dropped yet.

Hugh Dixon still won't get a game.

Given the forecasted 10 to 20mm rain before and during the game, might not be a game for tall fellas with GWS

Check Dockers and Magpies same forecast - if relevant to you - makes me more nervous to trade in Cameron this week.

Was all over the Pies v Freo forecast. It's why I'm going out of my way to trade Daicos with his high BE

I dunno I think i've done okay this year with my 'underpriced' picks:

Def: Short :whitecheck: Hewett :whitecheck: Sicily :whitecheck: Whitfield ?
Mid: Cripps :whitecheck: Kelly ?
Fwd: Dunkley :whitecheck: Cogs :heavymultiply: Butters :heavymultiply:

Pretty good strike rate out of that lot.

I haven't been exposed to anything from Selby so can't comment on that, but I'm pretty sure that exact point was made a fair bit during the preseason. Helped me reach my decision to only start with Crisp and Macrae from that list. Bought in Gawn when he bottomed out and am looking at Touk this week.
I only started with Grundy and Macrae, but it doesn't seem to have helped my rank!

"GEELONG coach Chris Scott says Gary Rohan is all but certain to make his long-awaited return from injury in the clash with Port Adelaide."
Not sure how relevant Geelong is in Fantasy - but who goes - Knevitt, Miers, Close, .....?
Looks like little room for Stephens who could be cash cow relevant.

If i was Geelong the changes i would make are Rohan and Stephens in Narkle and Miers out. But Scott rarely does what people expect

That is of course you think Rohan deserves to come in (haven't watched VFL to know)

Narkle proves week in and week out he is one lazy ass so i would prefer to give Stephens games as he is the future
Miers is woefully out of form and need a stint in the 2s

Chris Scott - you are a ****ing idiot !

That is all....

For those who have seen Cameron play (no pies games are on FTA), what's he like other than his ruck work? He seems to be filling the stats sheet, but is that from contested situations or link up play which may be impacted with heavy rain?

Do we all think Tracc is top 8? He went 116 or something post bye last year. It will be hard to fade him. But I already have Oliver which I kind of regret because I told ppl he lacked a ceiling and still picked him! My mids spot are shrinking.

I still likely plan to get Laird for Butters next week. Or could get Brayshaw. I don't have Laird, Tracc, Mills, Brayshaw or Smith with 3 spots left.

Exercise: Pick 3 of these 5 for a top 8 spot for the rest of season (who scores the most?)

Laird
Tracc
Mills
Brayshaw
Smith

Help. I think I am leaning fading Smith (scores slowing, young, uncertain role) and Brayshaw (scores slowing, still young, fyfe, tags)?

He's probably top 8 or if not at least bloody close to it. Has a good bye too. Really comes down to is he going to outperform his price by more than other options. I think he's a good pick.

I have 2 mids left which one I'm going to take Wines, can't ignore at that price. Second one I'd love Laird/Petracca but may settle in the interim for Zerrett once he bottoms out provided those low CBA's were a one off.

Yeah the more I look at Wines, the more I think he's the one to go with. If you take out the subbed game he's averaging pretty much 108 for the year.
