I’m glad you posted this because I felt the same.

One of two things happens, Caruso does 3 or 4 run throughs of different scenarios before the draft and they use the one that is most palatable.

Or Caruso and team edit after the event. I’m not sure what the benefit is, the AFL world knew we wanted Konstanty and whilst we liked Jones and Rowston the bid messed up our plans to trade in a future 1st.

Anyway it’s all done now, we have our guys let’s support them and hope they turn out good players.

I'm not sure if it messed up their plans as such more so just forcing them to use a different plan. They would've had a plan inplace for the scenario that Rowston gets picked in that range and what they're going to do. They would've had a whole heap of plans and decision making trees planned to help determine how they're going to navigate the draft. I think it's pretty clear they were really into Jones, we were constantly linked to him, Jones said that Kingsley said they thought he was the best small in the draft and now in the video it shows Caruso labelling him as their top small forward target. I'm sure the video is probably edited in a way to cut out stuff that doesn't suit their actual draft results but I don't think that means everything in the video is untrue.

Every year they release a video post draft and it's made same way, get every player they wanted. It clearly doesn't happen. The part with Caruso discussing potential bids on Rowston is shot afterwards. The best part is Cadman, love this kid already.

I'm not sure they go as far as that, I don't think they stage it.
They obviously cherry pick the parts that suit. Which isn't hard, they are obviously going to have very positive conversations about the guys they pick.
But in this case talking about the Rowsten bid, they are talking about it being pre 18 (not 15 which it ended up being) so that surprised them a bit, but he says if that happens they'll still get both Konstanty and Jones so based on that it wasn't staged.
I bet they'd be conversations about other guys they wanted but didn't get that don't make the final reel.

He seems a bit like if he turns out good he’s Jeremy Howe if he turns out bad he’s Kristian Jaksch.

Seems they view him as a forward and I don't think we really have that profile of contested marking player really in our forward line outside of Toby and he can only do so much of it at his height. Think they're hoping he's a real presence in the air and use his contested marking ability, Hogan does it a little bit but that's more through smart positioning and using his body, HH doesn't, Riccardi doesn't really either but he also may not be part of long term plans after this year.

SOS made some mistakes for us and for Carlton. He also did some great work for both. I like him. He's creative and can find a win-win when others can't. He doesn't set out to screw anyone over. I hope he gets back into list management again.

Pretty easy to get wins when you have the draft capital we had.
He was very very poor.
