They always miss with one or two players and it wasn't that long ago they kept getting Briggs contract status wrong.

North has great flexibility if it gets 7,8.
It could trade 7 for 11,18 with Richmond,

Any extra picks just get wiped out prior to the draft.

Which is why I expect that we'll do something with our picks before draft night to reduce back to 4 picks. I'm sure the team is working the phones assessing the options. A few examples could be:

• simple trade of say #21 for a F1 from a club likely to be at the pointy end next year (e.g. Geelong)
• if a club like Melbourne had some machinations in mind, say #9 for #15 & #16 (maybe planning a further swap with Norths)
• swapping #37 for a F2 with a club that wants an extra pick this year (e.g. Geelong, Bulldogs, St Kilda, Freo)

Aren't we down a back-up ruckman? Pruess and Flynn out last 2 years, with only an apprentice Madden in line. And I don't consider Keefe a ruckman, let alone Riccardi/ Himmelberg etc.

Don't expects us to but for mine we should be looking to bring in both Smith and Dodson and could see Dodson having the flexibility to develop into a high level second ruck.

I had thought of some pick swaps. What do others think? Maybe both teams/ supporters don't like.
12,63,2025f1 for 15,16,37,2025f1 with Eagles.

15,16,F1,F2 for 18,24,F1 with Richmond.

For us, we want young gun midfielders in my view. Eagles trade enables hopefully 2 of them with 12, F1.

With Richmond, they get two slightly better picks this year. We get a shot at their F1. They still have lots of mature players, will not think of themselves as certain to come 16th to 18th next year.
