Good afternoon all

That is the least happy he's ever been on camera.

Wow. The decision to overturn Crippa’s suspension is even more awesome than I could have ever imagined.

So many melts. So many beautiful melts.
Don’t know if King’s comments are a melt. He’s actually critical of AFL’s counsel (Payne) for not delineating between a contest and a bump.

But I entirely agree with this King statement:
“I think the game has never been more lost than what it is now. No one knows what dissent is, what holding the ball is, what protecting the head is, no one knows what’s a fair contest and what isn’t.”

I can’t agree more. Seems like a lottery sometimes what the call will be, both on the field and by the MRO.

Yeah, you’re certainly correct that those comments shouldn’t be considered a melt. Admittedly a case of only reading the headline.

Unfortunately, I don’t see anything changing in regards to interpretations of rules. We all want to get back to it just being a sport where it’s umpired easily. It is a bit of a mess in truth.

And while my initial gut feel was he’d be scrubbed for 2 weeks, I couldn’t give an absolute fairy-floss what the media pundits and the footy public think about Cripps getting off. I’m happy to have him available and hope he channels that energy into pummeling the Demons.
Im enjoying all the media hysteria … lol

However King is as much of a hypocrite as anyone on this. He champions himself as leading the anti concussion push.

However about three weeks ago he was having a crack at anyone who was having a go at Jack Ginnevan saying that he had the right to play for free kicks without criticism. It was pointed out to him by Nick Del Santo that surely this was inviting the risk of concussion.

It’s pretty simple, if it’s a contest and that player is going for the ball as the first priority then it’s play on.

Plowman was absolutely stiffed last year, that was an absolute contest where there was absolutely no way anything else could have happened except Plow coming off worse for wear than his opponent.

I’m rapt Crippa got off for more than the fact he’s playing this week, I’m stoked it was a win for the game that I know and love.

I still fear for the game, because it’s going to far. The game has never been safer from a brutality perspective, the AFL has changed rules to make the game faster and coaches have made it a game of congestion. Players are on a hiding to nothing, but if they contest the ball in a hard but fair manner they shouldn’t be beholden to an outcome if making a contest.

Plowman was unfairly suspended last year with that O'Meara one.
It is why we love the sport that players contest strongly. At times one of the players will position himself not quite well enough to not come off second best. That's the sport.
It sad it such a cluster**** of narratives to try to make it like players can live in a bubble and not be hurt in the sport.
We take on sport knowing there are risks. But we deem the enjoyment worth it to take part.

I agree with all the above 100%.

But, It's the same players who are threatening to take the AFL to the cleaners even though they sign up to play the sport

Great post

Talk about being disappointed the innocent was not found guilty.
Gary Lyon just stated "what if Ah Che comes down with concussion issues 12 to 18 months down the track.
WTF Cripps getting 2 weeks or not, is not going to stop a chance of complications down the track.

If litigation is the issue, "honestly" very similar to a boxer suing the federation for concussion, maybe the all
concerning AFLPA need to enforce neck strengthening exercises, leading to concerning skull fractures.

I'm sick to death of hearing the concussion debate, it's all talk and no action. It all boils down to one question.

Why aren't helmets enforced?
