Anyone else get their "membership pack"? A fake membership card and a sticker lol

Worth noting that the sticker says "Kangaroo Spirit" in relation to some media reporting going on last week

I'm not sure what else you were expecting?

Used to get more value. Pretty sure at one stage you got both a hat and a scarf. Basically get an envelope now.

AFL acts on supporter rejection of digital ticketing

The AFL has moved to give people the option of using physical cards to gain admission to the football after accepting the negative impact digital ticketing was having on crowds.

Departing CEO Gillon McLachlan confirmed that the league had reached a deal with ticketing agencies across the country he hoped would end the difficulties supporters faced when trying to buy tickets for games.
Speaking at ‘Spud’s Lunch’ in Richmond, McLachlan acknowledged that surveys had shown that the No.1 issue stopping people attending post-COVID was digital ticketing.

“People hate the digital ticket,” McLachlan said.
“Nationally [people] will again have a choice of a physical card or a digital version for 2023.”

The AFL has become increasingly concerned about the declining crowds with the effect of the pandemic, the rising cost of living, scheduling and the ease of watching games on television all contributing to soft numbers at non-event games.
Matches such as the Dreamtime at the ’G, Anzac Day and Queen’s Birthday still attract big crowds in Victoria but many matches have failed to match pre-COVID figures.
McLachlan also said the league hoped to have at least 14 Thursday night matches in 2023 with opinion still split on which matches to schedule in that timeslot.
Last Thursday night, Richmond attracted their lowest crowd since 2010 when just 21,757 turned up to see the Tigers host Port Adelaide.
McLachlan was interviewed by Saints’ champion Nick Riewoldt as part of a luncheon to promote awareness about mental health and wellbeing in honour of former Saints skipper Danny Frawley who died in September 2019, aged 56.

Love this.
Those plastic memberships without a barcode have been a pain in the ass when it comes to ticketing.

Common sense prevails even belatedly in the AFL.
Is it common sense or is it the realisation that people are voting with their feet and, as a result, crowds (and therefore revenue) are down?

I reckon it's the latter. It's all about the $$$$.

Anybody know about the future roo clinic Tuesday? Mate just rang me about it I’ve missed the cut off to register. He got sent a text with a registration form I didn’t get anything. My little blokes 10 mates kids are younger surely 10’s not too old for it?
All kids and adults current members

Just show up and get your kids involved. I had a similar issue a few years ago and did just that without anyone noticing. In fact my daughter made the news report that night in a handball drill with Spitter. If it’s anything like past events it’s borderline chaotic with so many kids involved in different drills all over the ground.

Did anyone get the ‘Signed guernsey for your thoughts’ email? The questions are mainly based around what factors made you stop being a member. I’m still a member but thought I’d pass on a few thoughts. If you see the ‘Make Some Noise bloke’ fired out of a cannon at half-time then you have me to thank 😁

Just got a call from the Membership Dept about my feedback. I explained why the digital only option can be a pain in the arse in general and is specifically so for older people, for anyone who isn’t great with smart phones, for people with any physical or cognitive impairments etc. Also mentioned that I have a Myki card, credit card, Medicare card and driver’s license etc so it’s not like having an actual physical membership is something unusual. Apparently the club is “working on something for next year”.
I was a member for a few years as a kid and I loved getting the membership card in the mail. Kids love getting stuff like that with their name on it and it helps further the connection to the club. Obviously people also like collecting the cards etc.
I just think that going to the footy should be easy and anything that can be done to make it more accessible for more people should be the aim of the club.
No word on whether we will see the ‘Make Some Noise bloke’ fired out of a cannon 😬

I got that email and I have been a continuous member since 1978. Nothing has stopped me being a member so I just deleted it.
