once you get past 31-32 your one bad season away.
Some players drop off quicker then others.
Why most clubs give 1 year contracts.. Unless they been a A grader or Captain etc and get more.

Although like anyone in the 22.. Someone needs to win Mitch's spot from him.
Robbo had some really good games last year.. fine line between blooding young kids and loosing something while they blood.
They have already stated Neale and Lyons are going to spend less time on ball so they are obviously going to shake things up to start the season. I think Robbo's days are numbered long term (ie last year). He may start round 1, he may not. 50-50 for me.

Is our praccy match against Adelaide this Friday on Kayo?

Robbo seems to almost have a bit of Acker about him with respect to his relationship with team mates a rubbing some the wrong way - almost a necessary evil to have a high energy extrovert. I think Robbo's actions of desperation can lift the team. So many times I've sat up in the stands and the team seems to be flat in the second half. Robbo will start chasing someone down and you can hear the crowd lift, even the ladies around us start yelling "get him Robbo" and sure enough Robbo lays the tackle, you can hear the crowd all talking about how they "Love Robbo" and wish more were like him and it will go on for 10 minutes and during the next

'even the ladies' ?? Lol, What does that even mean? :tearsofjoy:

Are there any women here today?

Expected rainfall for Nerang the next 3 days
Wednesday: 50-80mm
Thursday...: 45-90mm
Friday.......: 30-60mm
With this much rain expected will these 2 matches go ahead as a double header at Metricon on Friday ?
Has to be in doubt or at least has to be at separate venues
Even Saturday still 5-10mm of rain expected
However no rain expected at Adelaide

Metricon isn't at Nerang. It's at least 5km away.

Might not get any rain at all.

With our injury record in the "area"
Everyone should be hoping it is changed
Rayner even cut his hair off so the Metricon boogey man won't recognize him

Not sure anyone has ever done an ACL doing water aerobics. With that much rain, the whole area may be underwater.

Not sure what it is like now after the comms games upgrade, but where the carpark is on the other side of the main road would very quickly be a lake with a decent amount of rain, let alone what is forecast for the weekend.

The ground itself I remember drained pretty well, maybe it's raised a fair bit higher compared to the land over the road.

Wonder if the game could be moved to the sharks oval. Will still be wet, but at least there isn't a swollen flooding river running alongside.

It's a rad over 2 KMs from Nerang station. While it's in Carrara, it's certainly in the same area. Do you even BRAB?

Don't start me Nunez It's not even the suburb next door.

There's Boonaroo Park & Boonaroo Heights before you get to Nerang, and don't take a wrong turn at the highway, you'll end up in Highland Park or Worangary. Best you just stay home in the fancy suburb of Benowa.

If i were the Sharks i would not want an AFL team digging up my oval in a practice match

I also have doubts about two matches at the venue with so much rainfall predicted, the venue also host a number of AFLW games. I would not be playing Rayner, Andrews, Neal, Oscar or Daniher if the predicted rainfall eventuates. Good opportunity to see how Fullarton is going down back and Payne up front. Give Fort, Ely, Prior, Madden etc a game.

It's shaping up to be a rare weather event. I know games get played in all conditions, but it would be stupid to risk injury when there aren't points at stake.

Metricon gets flooded in - car park opposite goes under, and the traffic becomes a nightmare. All adding up to be a stay at home Friday.

Fake news about Neale & Lyons spending less time on the ball. Neale is our main weapon there & Lyons is also very important. Dont believe everything you hear/read this time of the year.

Its not open to the public at this stage anyways.

They are also the poorest defensive runners and spreaders in the midfield by a long margin and having both in there at once creates issues for us. If we can rotate it a bit and still win the ball with others picking up the slack in the clearances then other aspects of our game are likely to improve.

What is your opinion on JBerry playing through the midfield?

I am confident you will see Neale's workrate increase this season providing he stays fit. Lyons workrate is being addressed. Like him and a couple of others, they move into the forward line real quick if there's a chance they can score a goal but when it comes to saving a goal they are significantly slower moving into defence.
For me, saving a goal as a midfielder/winger held much more importance than scoring one. I believe that still is the case for all clubs.

I like him more onball than on a wing. He is very smart in his positioning and helps the unit function even when he is not getting the ball. He can win it himself but also can allow others to get free. Admittedly I was not that impressed with his onball work last year but I do think he would be better in there long term. Competition though is red hot and I would have Bailey first in line for a material upgrade of onball minutes and Rayner for more spot minutes.

Personally I would like McCluggage more on the outside or as a receiver around clearances. I think he would be most dangerous there. They have been putting in a lot of time trying to make him and all around midfielder and they have had success but I do think he still does his best work on the outside.

Maroon whiteboard 1st image is up to half time. The 2nd after half time.
Did not see the 3/4 time one and 4th quarter cancelled about 2 minutes in

May well have been commented on already, judging by the names assume blue dot means will play a combo of on ball/mid (and in Berry’s case wing), and also float forward at some stage?

same was said last year. I think Mitch had a great year.
My problem is not really Robbo.. I think with Lyons, Neale, Rich, Birchall, Matho, Lester, Robbo and add Zorko's foot slowing him down
We where a little one paced and lacked run.

Agree when i saw this story i thought crazy idea and would backfire big time
A little like the Zorko halfback role. Sure he played 2 quarters in an intraclub

Club could very well play Neale and Lyons spending time forward/wing in the next two games to make the story creditable
If that happens it will only be to give an established player more midfield time or give a younger guy a chance to show something say Eli/Dev/McFadyen/sharp/Tunstill/Lohmann

What i see happening round one is more rotations through the forward and the center line now that Rayner is added to the mix
Maybe a little less time on ground for Neale and Lyons. Maybe reduce the time a little when they are on the ground together

Regarding Neale & Lyons not getting back in defense enough. This is true to a certain extent.
Not surprised they have been told to work on it but that is just Fagan's mantra, improve, improve, improve.

Midfielders can't be everywhere. You can't be a link player deep in defense. Or set up goals deep in defense.
They both get back for stoppages which in my opinion is all that is required
You don't change the style of 2 players rated elite one a Brownlow winner

Are they any different to Bontempelli, Martin, Petracca, Oliver, Macrae, Merrett, Walsh, Mitchell etc etc
Each of these players have deficiencies but you take that over trying to be a 100% all-round midfield super player if one exists

Correct they are all the rotations

Follow the Dots, triangle, square, asterisk, W
