Mirkov is a project player and a project ruckman at that. The club would be under no illusions that he is a long term project that we need to be patient with.

Ive watched him closely and while he has shown some improvement he is coming of a low base and would get murdered at AFL level. Not to mention Big Footy tearing him apart.

That's fine but that means we basically have 2 rucks on our list that could play AFL.

We are contending...if that's the case we prob need to bring in another backup ruck for the short term. Would also give us flexibility to play TDK forward.

Or three...lightyears away from it.

You are the one that described my posted opinion as being hyperbolic - if you cant justify your statement - why make one in the first place?

His current ability is far far behind AFL requirements - simple as that
Whether it takes another pre-season or two - for him to achieve AFL levels of fitness is an open question - I see very little evidence of him being a superior athletic type apart from his height and reach, he isn't a high jumper, he lacks proportionate size for his height and he doesn't move around the ground half as well as Pittonet - who is a plodder in AFL terms - he will take time.

If you think the above is hyperbole - we speak a different language and or you don't actually watch VFL or bother to look at how long it takes a typical young ruckman to become a genuine AFL player.

I can't agree with the bit about Mirkov not being athletic or a high jumper. But yes talls take a long time to come good. Harry won a coleman after 6 years in the system.

Sadly it hasn't really worked well .. would be better off resting tdk on the pine and letting cripps or Kennedy go fwd when silvagni ruck .. maybe the fact Martin is out also has forced us into this cripps ruck tdk fwd fiasco..

Totally agree. Using Cripps like that robs us of our number 1 advantage. It clearly isn't working and not having a proper ruck set-up cost us the game against Collingwood.

Will be interesting to see how the team is selected this week.
Kennedy and Martin should walk in.
I wonder if there’s a temptation to bring both Kemp and Durdin in and play Kemp forward. Not sure it’ll happen given Durdin may need a twos game to learn the system and Kemp has been settled recently as a defender. However, an extra tall in front of the ball could alleviate intercept marks and stop Cripps/Kennedy needing to ruck around the ground.
Hard to see how Dow plays with Kennedy back given his lack of positional versatility.

Depends what you mean by 'working' I guess. How many games has it been happening -- maybe three or four? We've won all but one of them, and that one had only a kick in it and plenty of other challenges besides our ruck setup.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as keen as anyone to see Cripps get back to his usual role. But from a pure win/loss perspective one could make the argument that it's worked relatively well.

Hi all, do you guys think Durdin will come in for Wietering next week? TIA.

PS please done hate, this is for Supercoach reasons

Gotta strike now and hard, this is a must win and % boost to leap a cupla teams, as the next 4/5 will shape the 8!!
Yes 4 points in this game would be important to maintain our top eight position...
we should be able to do that, teams might try and target potential weak areas now as we get hit hard with injuries, however our midfield will remain well above average and generate plenty of ball going forward, plus we still got above average half backs in Williams,Doc,Saad !
Lewis will get a big role now the next couple months,we just have to wait till our defenders return from injuries....it might be kind of ok in the mean time ?

we should see 30 points plus against the Dons...i think its too late to see huge percentage boosters from out 112 percent and we will mainly rely on wins to hold us up in that top eight spot ,its really important for the club that we see least one or a few finals games this year,it looks easily doable and it should happen, obviously if we want top 4 it might make that a bit more difficult...
Crippa will embrace finals,he has worked so hard for this club - will be very happy for him !!
