plus we still got above average half backs in Williams,Doc,Saad !!

Great post. I just wanted to narrow in this bit though as a discussion point as I was really disappointed in our half backs against woods as we played down the line in a most predictable way when it clearly wasn’t working. We have these players who are known for meters gained but at the moment they aren’t quality meters at all. Particularly lacking talls we need some work on transition. At the game it was obvious that woods were set up really well behind the ball but we couldn’t generate any avenues to get speed on the ball to catch them out of position. Props to them but with our players at hand I feel like this should be a strength of ours.

If Harry plays do you think he may spend time down back?

Was out on the road yesterday and I was stuck listening to Guessen

But there were a few people calling in saying the word going around is that
Pittonet and Harry may be available for the * or Tigers game...

Anyone heard anything?

Probably just sen scuttlebutt...

Pitto is nowhere near ready, 4-5 weeks away off his own bat last weekend

Think both Hayes and Durdin play this game, alongside Kennedy and probably Martin.

In: Durdin, Hayes, Kennedy, Martin
Out: Weitering, Cottrell, Carroll, Motlop

Handy additions, should be enough to beat *.

Prefer Cotters to stay (even if sub, played well when needed), minus Newnes. Plowman on notice as well, some poor efforts last week.

Curious to see if we'll play Martin...reports were he didn't do much in his VFL game? And was overlooked for the Collingwood match.

I think we're a better team with him in, but coaches might want to see more effort from Martin.

Martin had the effort that I saw (1st 1/2), goes hard & at pace at contests. Kicking wasn’t great but reckon the run would have been a tick box vs dominating (bonus).

You gotta have a plan for 2MP.

He'll convert 3/4 anywhere inside 55 and without being A grade he's big enough and good enough to get enough shots to have a significant impact, even on an opponent's number 1 defender.

Young's actually a pretty good match-up because Wright won't test him for strength or speed and Young has the size and reach.

Question is whether you run the risk with the resting ruck and the rotation which could see Jones deep and Wright high. Not an easy decision to make given Wright's rage.

On one view it's all academic as you should steamroll us at the source. But we're very good at capitalising on the clean break from congestion/stoppages. That and junk possessions is about all our midfield is good for.

It should mean we get reasonable supply forward, particularly because you're defence is still at the contest and forward half.

If I was in Voss' shoes I'd play Durdin because having tested KPD depth could be the difference between finals wins and not.

I reckon it's an imperative against us. An upset is never out of the question such is the nature of the rivalry. If we get you the game will look like circle work. If that happens you don't want to expose defenders giving away 10cm. You have the same systemic weakness Port has in that type of game.

I definitely rate 2MP, he’s having his best season in a side which has been very poor.

Looked gassed the past few weeks.

Vossy likes having the small forwards play pretty high and be able to transition the ball. Durdin has the smarts and some extra fitness to do this but Motlop is a year behind. I’ve noticed he almost makes excessively long leads and gets the ball as deep as half back.

I know Daicos is the same age but there’s a clear difference in their fitness levels, and Daicos has a nice turn of pace himself.

Don’t think Jesse’s old man was express quick either and was even kind of fat at points in his career. Regularly beat his opponents with his quick step though.

Dunno if Honey is playing VFL but if he’s fit it’s probably time to bring him back and get Jesse working on his defensive pressure and understanding where he should be situated around the ground. There hasn’t been a lot of play generated through him with Durdin and/or Owies involved because he’s a bit all over the place with his positioning.
Honey’s way off playing seniors atm, only played the last 2 VFL games since coming back from injury and has been quiet and looked rusty…

Probably needs another block of 4 games at least as well as providing a much greater impact on the game for the chance to being promoted…

We could certainly could do with his speed pressure tackling and score involvements…

Hi all, do you guys think Durdin will come in for Wietering next week? TIA.

PS please done hate, this is for Supercoach reasons

Even if he plays he will not score much as he would play lock down (spoils and not contested marks) and we wouldn’t use him for many rebound chains
