Ye, reckon we are lucky there, Boyd in fine form and a good replacement.

We will see, suddenly a few new faces in the backline we could be a bit disjointed.

I know Boyd is in good form but made some mistakes in the Melbourne pre season game. Saad has been rock solid defensively and his kicking is good.

We lack a bit of speed down back and no one is quicker than Saad.

Saad and gov are good kicks, now we have plowman and Boyd...bit of a worry.

Sucks not having our best team out there. Backline is somewhat weakened but the incomers will likely still do a good job. It’s not like it’s total shizenhousen back there.

It’ll be more about us dominating midfield and in our f50 so our defence can enjoy watching what unfolds in front of them.

Good luck to Boyd and Young in their first games for us.

Boyd is a brilliant kick of the footy.

In terms of defensive ability and 1v1 Plowman is experienced, Boyd is a competitor and Youngs output is prob similar to McDonald. Not too worried there.

I am worried that with 3 changes in defence with 2 making their debuts for us, that our backline will be a less organised.

The other big worry is foot skills. We play a possession kick game coming out of defence. Gov and Saad are good kicks we can rely on. Plowman and boyds I'm not so sure, and Young too.

We can already seen even from the pre season games (except that clunker fest against St Kilda) that the boys and coaching staff have really worked on our kicking and finishing skills over the preseason.

Aside from Mitch Lewis, I am not worried about the Hawthorn foward line at all, and it's always exciting to see a debutant (best of luck to Jordan Boyd, love seeing mature age recruits given a go at AFL level)

Not ideal I agree.

Just have to work around it as best we can. Still think we’ll be fine to get the chocolates.

Would prefer losing 1-2 players a week to covid than 5+ for less weeks.

Unfortunate though that our opponents dogs and hawks haven't had anyone miss while we did.

McEvoy is a big loss for the Hawks, even if wasn't covid related

Beating The Dogs without Cerra and Martin was a very encouraging sign of our growing depth and development at our club.

Yep we may even see a new Plow in terms of kicking. I'm also a big believer that a players foot skills is highly dependant on the teams overall structure/gameplan. Amazing how much better players can look with their skills when the coaches have them organised and know where teammates will be.

Though I'm definitely worried about more than just Mitch Lewis. Breust has always tormented us and was decent last week, Gunston is is good form and even Wingard is bobbing up for a few goals.

You might be selling gunston, bruest and wingard a bit short there Elmer.

Very good footballer, but Saad won’t be the difference between winning and losing this.

Congratulations Boydy. Go well young man.
why are people talking about saad as if he is not playing? please don't tell me that - I've been in bendigo, not on pluto.............
