Never played SC Draft but I'd take the ruck you think is going to score the highest.

Macrae is likely to be the highest scoring midfielder and a good chance for highest averaging player again, but the divide between rucks is so stark. Every year there's like 2-3 top tier rucks and then there's like a 15+ point gap between the top tier and the next best. If you take the best ruck you've still got plenty of chances to find a high scoring mid on your next pick. Your ruck options might not be great.

As I said I've never played Draft though so dunno if that's the best strategy.

Good point. Thing is, are you confident that Gawn at 30+ off a flag with Luke Jackson emerging is going to score like prior seasons? It's also a position that comes with injuries.

My view is that a very early pick is the only chance for an elite scorer.

Does Auto Draft implement 'smart auto draft' and take a few extra players in positions you haven't got many players? Or could you literally end up with 18 Centers and nothing in any other position?

I believe that it will pick your next available player until you run out of space for the next available player’s position.

Eg, it would pick 7 mids (3 field and 4 bench) before it started picking backs, assuming your next available players were all mids, even if you had 0 backs the whole time.

Hope that makes sense and I stand to be corrected.

Yeah I would want the ruckmen. But really it’s a similar dilemma to what I have anyway.
You don’t take Steele and your next mid isn’t anywhere near as good either.
