Whiting only mentioned 2 meniscus surgeries for Graham at the end of last year in this article. Can actually anybody confirm that Graham did have 2 ACLs? Surely, Whiting would mention it.
If he really hasn’t done 2 ACLs, I don’t see how he doesn’t go round 1. Granted, a double meniscus ain’t great itself, but that was really the only big question mark on him. Can play inside, outside, athletically gifted, showed this year his versatility. I definitely see the Crisp in his potential role of the future and could well be the missing midfield point of difference.

Great story, you get the feeling out of the 4 he may have the most immediate impact. A jack crisp style half back/mid sounds like something we could really use.

How awesome is Graham's story! Foundation member of the Suns since 5 years of age and has supported the club the whole way through. Same goes for Ethan Read who has been loyal to the Suns his entire footy journey. Hopefully this is something we can start to become accustomed to on the GC with juniors who grow up dreaming of playing for the Suns when they're older. I remember hearing stories about guys like Izak Rankine dreaming about playing for the Crows when he was younger and idolising players like Eddie Betts and that obviously played a factor in his decision to go home later in his career.

I assume Graham and Read idolised Gary Ablett Jr when they were younger, but wouldn't it be awesome if we now start to see a new generation of Gold Coasters who have supported the Suns from their earliest footy days and idolise players like Ben King, Jack Lukosius, Touk Miller or Noah Anderson. I'm sure Nick Daicos looked up to Scott Pendlebury when he was younger and now they're premiership teammates. I'd love to see that at our club with a local junior who grew up supporting the club or even a father-son pick like Kai Rischitelli. I guess this is the reality of going through the first cycle of a 15-20 year generational change that we always heard about early days.

FYI Jed Walter is/was an Eagles fan but said he always had a soft spot for the Suns as well. It seems Jake Rogers is the one of the four that wasn't as passionate about the Suns growing up but that's also got to do with him being a Pies supporter and that it's not common for a Collingwood supporter to have a shared interest in another club (shoutout to Jen2310). Regardless, I'm sure all four will grow a strong passion for our club once they enter the four walls and become engrained in the culture. Times are changing, ladies and gentlemen. Buckle up!

So it seems like we had Reuben Ginbey at home the whole time

Chose Humper over Ginbey

And Graham sounds exactly like what Ginbey draft profile is with the 2 busted meniscus’

I mean, these are the kind of players you take a hit with for pre-season selection. Some experience, bigger bodies etc. to complement the young draft picks coming in.

As long as they are positions we need depth in (forwards, half backs and wing) I’m all for it. Worse case (and most likely scenario) it replaces some of the lost VFL depth.

This one seems more realistic given how FS and academy players have dropped down the board in recent years (Daicos, Green, etc.)

Did anyone notice a Will Ashcroft in one of the photos - all the boys played together in that team
Sure did. Ashcroft is #6 and that also confirms that Walter (25), Read (2), Rogers (3) and Graham (10) were all playing as bottom agers even back then at the U14s level. That was Ashcroft's last season on the Gold Coast back in 2018 when he was named in the U15 All Australian team as a bottom ager. Who would have thought that picture could potentially contain as many as five first round picks and possibly four in the top 10? You could easily argue that the future of Gold Coast footy is in that one picture. Interesting to see Walter has always been massive (even as a bottom ager) and Read went through an enormous growth spurt at some point after this photo was taken. That probably explains why he's very skilled for a tall because he developed his early game as a small.

Wonder how many rookie spots we have? Must be flush with them if we are willing to waste one on Bonar
I feel for brodie mclaughlin, told there was no spot for him and we end up giving our spot to Peris or Bonar

No need to worry. All four will be Suns in a few weeks. No way Dimma lets any of them slip out of his fingers. Trust the process.

We have to get used to this anyway. Our academy is finally bearing fruit and it's likely we'll find ourselves in a similar situation multiple times over the next few years with Lombard and Nancarrow potentially both being first round picks in 2024. Then we've got Addinsall, Murray, Uwland and possibly also White the following year. Add on Jarvis and Hill the year after that. All/most of these players look like future first round picks right now. I get the feeling we'll be matching A LOT of bids over the next few years as opposition clubs get increasingly annoyed by the strength of our academy. The first thing we'll have taken from us we'll be our Darwin access so get ready for that one.
Dylan Patterson is another to watch this season....he's a potential gun.

Heard the stories about 2 ACL
But if that was the case he would have missed atleast 2 years of football?
Should be able to find how many games per year he has played since U16s for instance
Missed a lot of football in 2022 and 2021 - not sure what sort of knee but whatever it was kept him out for a long period. guess we''l find out eventually.
