Not really about attracting him... He would probably go to any vic club if they could afford him/had draft capital.

Not exactly sure how Carlton can afford him.

but his main priority is to go home for family reasons.

im calling it..
Without Clarkson we land no big fish

Pick 3 Gibcus
Pick 19 Jye Amiss
Pick 22 Blake Schlensog
Pick 43 CCJ

55, 58 and 66 on mature agents or pick swaps etc
Amiss will be gone by 19. Probably to Fremantle at pick 8, if they land pick 6 from Carlton.

Schlensog was a delisted free agent. There’s some discussion going on at the moment about whether he can be signed during the trade period as a delisted free agent.

Who is CCJ at pick 43?

I don't have any idea of drafts and what 17yo carved it up in the maiden at Wyong and could care less after 12 years of high end failures and departures, but couldn't agree more Ben
This will be a very very quiet off-season for us with the silenced magnified by the lack of announcements on contract renewals from our young guns
Sam Day renewing is not a cause for celebration

I actually don't mind Dunstan too much, he isn't exciting but he definitely plays for us. Especially with Swallow seemingly being rotated out of the midfield to a flank now.

Gave Lyons a proper going over earlier in the year.

Miller, Greenwood and Dunstan is a very big bodied midfield which would win their fair share of clearances. Something we can struggle with.

Apparently Richmonds offer to Cerra was $500k x 5 which got knocked back

Former Lions player Sam Skinner having a similar revitalization that Collins did in the SANFL.

24 year old key defender, could be a good option to partner Collins in defence.

Believe Sam has had multiple ACL injuries at the Lions. I remember he was invited to train with Noble at North earlier this year but didn't get drafted. I hope he gets another chance with us or someone else.

What we need to do is trade our 1st round draft pick for next year to the lions. Going by what happened to Port and Demons the last two years we should finish minor premiers.:p

Dew: "Lyons, Wright, Fiorini and Brodie are too one paced, and don't defend and that why I keep them in the reserves and offload them for pennies"

also Dew: trades in Luke Dunstan, Rory Atkins, George Horlin-Smith, Corey Ellis, Anthony Miles and Zac Smith
To be fair; dew had a good reason to get rid of lyons. He knew he was getting Greenwood and saved the club 100k a year. Greenwood also happened to be mates with Atkins and thats how we could afford to get Atkins in.

Atkins > Lyons absolute 4d Chess by dew

GOLD Coast will explore the prospect of recruiting Luke Dunstan after he and St Kilda mutually agreed it was time for a fresh start.

The unrestricted free agent was told he wasn't going to be offered a new deal immediately at the Saints and that it was best he looked elsewhere to continue his AFL career.

The Suns have shown interest in the inside midfielder who managed 116 games for the Saints across eight seasons.

While they're open to the possibility of recruiting the South Australian native, it's likely to be as a delisted free agent or via a rookie selection to avoid giving up trade picks.

The Suns are also extremely tight for senior list spots for 2022 with just one of their 38 primary-listed players – Malcolm Rosas jnr – currently out of contract with Sean Lemmens and Sam Day recently agreeing to new deals.

Under current list concessions, the Suns can have up to 38 senior listed players and nine Category A rookies, meaning they will need to move three players from the senior list to the rookie list for 2022 should Rosas jnr be retained.

Brodie, Rosas, McLennan would be three I would suggest are moved to the rookie list

I couldn’t help but notice how friendly Buddy was towards our players after the game last week, then it got me thinking

His wife is from the Gold Coast and they had their second child in March this year. I wonder if his wife would like to move closer to family now they have 2 children?

Then the fact that we tried to land Josh Kennedy last year and had him pull out at the last minute shows we are after experience in the forward line and don’t mind going after the players in the later stages of their careers

Now it’s reported Sydney have this salary cap squeeze that might push out Luke Parker and some of the younger kids trading Buddy with a year to run might help them retain some players, we pick up his salary (hopefully we have the space)

Not sure what Dews relationship with Buddy was like, given he was in Sydney for 7 years as an assistant that would have to count for something

Buddy looked great when he played this year, he certainly looks like he has 2 more good years in him

I know I’m dreaming but imagine having Buddy and King in the same forward line next year
