Agree but dont wast them on an average player in McDonald, what has he done at Swans?
He is a 21 year old who just kicked 32 goals

Pretty bloody good

Jamarra (who everyone thinks is getting a 10 year deal) just kicked 35

McDonald underrated on here, he isn't at his peak yet either KPF's take time

Great insight into GWS draft, they thought we were bidding on Harvey Thomas, they would have matched if we did, may have made it harder for them to get Fonti, wonder if we bid and they matched, whether we would have gone to GC to trade in for Fonti at some point, maybe not as we needed a forward on our last pick.

Joe is a versatile player, he's quick, but sometimes his decision making could be questioned.
I'd back Walls in on what he got in this draft.
Just don't let him do the trading, this should be Brierty now

Gold Coast are a bit unique I guess. 11 top ten picks on the list right now. It’s absolutely ****ed really.
A pick 27 (Sharp) to them is just a nothing pick, an afterthought.

We are here salivating over our picks 35, 41 and 60.
Different planet entirely.
I’m happy with the 2 year rookie deal for sharp on minimum chips. He gets a fair chance here to show it he’s up to it without is committing too much to him.
If he has a really good season next year and plays most games he will get a deserved extension at the end of his first year.
Yea Gold Coast also added Brandon Ellis and Rory Atkins who can play wing. Plus multiple top ten mids.

Sharp never really had a chance.

This scenario is why a lot of players from Gold Coast get traded for **** all and end up being okay at worst elsewhere. Their VFL side has as much natural talent as most sides best 22 tbh.

The problem is their best 22/depth never reach the overall age/maturity to be anything other than really talented side that'll be be a jugernaught in a few years. I feel the handouts for the AFL also create a culture of entitlement (also why GWS hasn't won a flag yet imo - they've been talented enough). A proper coach and some have decent retention might change that though unfortunately.

If Logan is contracted until end of next season why do we have to trade for him? Excuse me if I’m being ignorant but just wondering what the deal is

refreshing to hear someone speak with some honesty

It’s no different to Liam Henry Thai year who was also OOC but saints still had to trade for him.
You have to be 8 years at the same club before you can get a players like Logan without trading (as a free agent). We could get him for free in 2028 if he was OOC.

That is not as impressive as Jye`s stats and hasnt he been in their system for 3 years

Lets back Treacy and Odin (plus we have Jacko floating through a forward pocket) No need to sell the farm

Good player Mcdonald.
But the Swans with their academies and bullshit pump up from VFL House can GAGF if they ask for 2 first rounders.
I'd be 1 first rounder then a sweetener.
We have gone backwards so far by the Jesse Hogan deal, we should consider this.
if not, 3 first rounders could be game changing

Cal Twomey (or someone on AFL.com.au) reckons McDonald is more likely to resign with the swans.

Say it with me

"Jye is the exception, not the rule"

repeat it

"Jye is the exception, not the rule"

One more time

"Jye is the exception, not the rule"

Every chance he does, in which case I'd use our 3 picks to get as high up the draft as possible

If he does come home, then 2 of our 3 go to Swans for him (altho with Walls in charge of trading it may be 3 with something coming back)

Happy to enjoy having Odin on the list, but most of this draft haul are statistically long shots to make it as regular best 22. Treacy is also from the rookie list, so it is possible.

I'm fine if the club rates MacDonald and pays a couple of first rounders depending where they fall.

I could see him working well with Amiss and Treacy. I also think we need to aggressively force our way into finals contention.

This deal with Sydney is already done I reckon. Our lowest and highest 1st round pick for Logan.

Swans are way too professional to not lock this in well in advance. Moment Lance retired and Logan wasn’t signed for 5years knew he was ours. Hey Sydney have gone all in with trades this year. Firmly have their sight on JUH. Logan isn’t a marquee , former number 1 pick JUH is.

I know it's funny because it happened to WC, but their second round pick being 30 is absolute insanity. Especially after how bad they were this year

Even Uncontracted and maybe kicks 40, 3 x firsts is extreme. You'd be wanting some change back in the form of a second and a third

Belly would typically pay that though - we have a history of paying full price for Uncontracted. Good things he's been moved aside

We essentially have 4 picks inside 30-35 (depending on those **** academy's and a few father sons already identified)

If McDonald comes on and the club wants him, 2 x firsts max. I still feel we need another quality small forward and half back / wing types

This is the hand eagles need!

What if we beat port in prelim and pies in gf and with academies it's picks 21 22 23

Sounds like us at the moment 🤣

How is it possible that Carlton take Cerra, and we settle on their first round
yet McDonald is supposedly worth 2 first rounders?
The clubs here are even more disadvantaged than the AFL love children.
WC with pick 1 and then 30 after two years of hell for their fans.
Sure they have had success but since Covid the imbalance of the league has
ensured that WA is just seen as a cash cow.
