More than 100 Inside 50s... averaged not far from 20 and 3 and nearly 5 marks and 8 contested possessions a game for the season. If he was getting those numbers and playing deep GWS wouldnt have lost a game.

He'd also have won the Coleman, would get 40 Brownlow votes and have won the AFLCA by 20 or more votes.
107 inside 50s, Charlie Curnow has 80 and averages 7.1 contested possessions, not a big difference and Curnow is a full forward. So I don't think that's really the slam dunk you think it is.

Curnow pushes up the ground more than most key forwards. Of those who have kicked over 40 goals only Greene, Curnow and Daniher who plays 2nd ruck are over 80 inside 50’s

Do you follow GWS closely? What position would you say Greene plays?

He roams around the front half where he feels he is most dangerous. Some games he will play deeper but most of the time half forward

Best player in the comp

Think it will be something like this.

FB: Stewart, Weitering, Sicily
HB: N. Daicos, Moore, Sinclair
CT: J. Daicos, Green, Gulden
HF: Petracca, Larkey, Greene
FF: C. Cameron, Curnow, Walker
RU: English, Bontempelli, Butters
INT: Marshall, Serong, Rozee, Dawson

Back line is a little much. Sicily and Stewart play exactly the same position, and Moore basically plays it too. Needs more Dan Houston.

I tend to agree but we know the selection panel always goes for the big names rather than a balanced team. One of Houston, Blakey, or Redman should replace one of Stewart or Sicily if it was all about balance. Personally, I think Newman should have been in the squad of 44 as his back half of the year has been as good or close to the level of Houston, Redman and Blakey but it is what it is.

The other thing they do is stick midfielders on the wing or half forward flank to fit in an extra 1 or 2 big name mids.

Didn’t make the squad of 44 which is crazy. He has been the best Brisbane mid this year and yet Neale got chosen ahead of him.

Defensive inside midfielders don't do well in these sort of awards generally. Rowell was first in tackles, and second in both contested disposal and clearances and didn't make the squad either.

Most good sides have two primarily intercept players.

Sam Taylor and Nick Newman far better. AA Selectors love Stewart. But won’t make 22 on the back of this year.
He'll get the no finals tax as we didn't get a player in 2006 or 2015 but statistically he's been just as good this year and has more coaches votes while only missing one game (3 poor games but the rest have been quality).

Without him we'd have finished behind Hawthorn.

This is not actually true
