Who will be putting pressure on? We were for most of the season the best team keeping the ball inside forward 50. I would say Holman was important part of it.
Rosas had pretty good tackle numbers for a small forward when he came in.
Whoever fills that role Holman or other will need to make that their prime focus.

Think Swallow could take his role, as mentioned, especially if he gets pushed slowly out of the midfield. They are similar players, but Holman has probably reached his peak and is injury prone now with his back, while Swallow seems to be getting better.

Swallow can tackle. Ainsworth can tackle. Rosas or Flanders or Davies can tackle. Long can play forward if needed (when Powell and Weller are back) too.

Holman’s benefits will slowly start to become liabilities if he can’t hit the scoreboard enough or influence the game. His spot should have a lot of pressure on it.

Yeah, Rosas puts decent pressure on but still does not have a tank, only 63% TOG.

Personally, I value Holman more than you but that's OK. IMO, no player you mentioned come close to his pressure. Holman is not there to score but his 0.8 is comparable/better to all players you mentioned except Ainsworth and even Ben was only 1.1 in 2022.

I would also dispute that he is injury prone. Crack in vertebra this year due to collision and perforated bowel last year is just bad luck. Before that, yes, he had back issue but that was fixed 2 years ago with 2 screws.

Holman is also one of the main guys organizing forward line according to coaches.

The same 23 I'd select with a watch on pre season form on Andrew, Sexton and maybe Humphrey a few games in the reserves before a debut. Tipping a debut for uwland this year, haven't seen much of him but there's something about him. Look forward to seeing him play.

Very similar to what others have put up, will be ultra competitive for spots this season. Need to fit Weller and Budarick back in here when they are 100%.

Hey guys, how do you rate, Farrer against Long and Budarick? I see them competing for the final position in the back line. I’m a fan of each of them. Long is a better tackler, but Farrer’s numbers compare well to both, but with his added height as an advantage. Any thoughts?

Personally;

Farrar 190cm attacking silky, skill efficient rebounder. Good as a third tall or if he gets the role can attack.

Long Has been pigeoned to be out attacking half back who plays on flair and instinct. Higher ceiling, can do it all just needs consistency.

Budarick 175cm player who has the skills and toughness in the Rory Laird Mould, just needs some luck with his knees. Not that good lockdown so will most likely need to find a position that’s not in the backline. He’ll be there for a few more years though, highly skilled just gonna be hard to find a spot unless he becomes like an Isaac Quaynor, proper athlete and lockdown specialist in a few years.

All fit and healthy, Budarick gets in my AFL side, because of the higher upside

I would expect 2 could play on the same team. Powell could end up on the wing. Lemmens spot could be in danger.

Ultimately, I am hoping Uwland could become a tough smaller HB for us. But that's just a wish at the moment.

Long is tough (crazy sometimes). Both Long and Farrar have DE significantly better than Budarick.

I would play Long and Farrar over Budarick. While I like how Budarick goes about it, his defence is a question mark for me, so his kick efficiency. No sold on him as most people are. Big job for Budarick to come back from 2 ACLs and will have competition for a spot.

Personally, I am biased as I love how Farrar plays and is my choice - played only 25 games (same as Budarick), love his speed, can break lines, is smart, makes mostly good decisions with the ball, can defend, mark.

People don't rate Buda? He is a jet, for someone who was a midfielder for 95% of his junior career, I thought his play as a defender was fantastic. Attacks the ball and player hard.
Made a number of mistakes as a small defender when he first came back last year.
Bailey basically kicked 6 on him against the lions.
I’m saying that got way better as he built into it.
I’m high on his potential. Think he has shown he can play.

Id be rusty too after a year off.
He really hit form before he did his knee again.

I agree. Farrer has my vote too. Although, I would like to see his tackling stats go north this season. I also think Lemmons will need to lift to make the side. Powell will be great on the wing.

I would have farrer long and lemmens starting.

One of them potentially misses out if we want Graham or Andrew to play up against a bigger forward line - maybe round 7 Richmond would be the first time we’re forced to consider that.

B:
J. Lukosius - S. Collins - S. Lemmens
HB: W. Powell - C. Ballard - B. Long
C: B. Ellis - T. Miller - E. Hollands
HF: M. Rosas - B. King - B. Ainsworth
FF: J. Jeffrey - M. Chol - N. Holman

R: J. Witts - M. Rowell - N. Anderson

I: J. Anderson - S. Flanders - L. Casboult - D. Swallow

This team has good balance with a mix of pace, skill, tackling, height and a dangerous forward line. Lukosius needs to play defence and lock down a position finally, he is too timid to play forward and the tall forward options have good options now. Plus the defence needs some better ball users.

Whilst I'm not one to disagree with most people posting here, I can't see Lukosius playing back pocket nor can I see Casboult or J.Anderson on the interchange......
So I would have Farrar taking Luko's spot, and Luko taking over from JJ who goes to the I/C for Anderson, and Levi surrendering his spot on the I/C to anyone of Davies, Weller, Humphrey, Sexton, Andrew, Sharp even.
