I'd have Walter>Caddy at the pointy end but Caddy does seem to be a bit Charlie Curnow esque physically. Combination of him and Mckercher would be salivating with him playing 3rd fiddle to H and Charles.

Consensus on the draft threads is Hawthorn and North will be pretty keen on Caddy

Add Wilson to that group too and I agree. Freak runner and good ball user. Very much Isaac Smith like in his ability to run at high speed and kick long and accurately while running ful tilt.

Reid is the clear best prospect but I'm not convinced he'll be more impactful than a top 5 and top 15 pick together. Mckercher, Watson, Caddy etc are very very good players available after him.

Mckercher looks a very good fit to add some speed & improved ball use.
lf we happen to add a further early pick from potential TDK trade or trading our 1st from next year Watson would be a priority.

I think if we see Kennedy or Hewett traded that could be a sign we're looking at Mckercher. He's a very good on baller and has electric pace out of stoppage. Would fit in well with Cripps and Cerra as slower but bigger bodied ball winners to feed it to he and Walsh

Starting to think this draft is a little over rated as a group. Yes, I have been guilty too. Some excellent prospects, but not sure about wall to wall superstars anymore.
Tend to agree.....

Harley Reid first 2 goals were over rated, left in the goal square for a “joe the goose” followed by a very dubious free kick shortly after....

Man size body now playing against kids.... will be very interesting to see how he progresses.

Reids shown the same physical abilities against bigger AFL bodies in the VFL and for the Academy, he's a certainty to be a good player somewhere on the field.

I still think Walter, Watson, Edwards and Mckercher could be the picks of the bunch and genuine top 5 players in their positions at AFL level. Caddy is the question mark in the same sense as Charlie was, will his athleticism be enough to allow him to mismatch against the best in the AFL? Have to wait and see first but has a lot of tools to impact.

Duursma, Moir, Tholstrup and a lot of the half backs/flankers have been bitterly disappointing since the beginning of the year. Could get a gem amongst them if they can find their previous form or be complete busts imo.

As a whole though I look at it similar to the 2018 draft. About 10 players who look absolute certainties to be superstars and then 10 who look like they could be if developed well.
After that seems to be a big big drop off in talent, think thats why the national champs have been pretty ordinary too.

Walsh, King, King, Rozee, Butters, Smith, Rankine, Blakey, Lukosious, Thomas (Should be but he's complete twit)

Lukosious probably debatable, has all the tools and has played some incredible games, just seems to just be a bit inconsistent and gets thrown around by Dew which imo has hampered his development.

Will give you Walsh, Butters, Rozee but that’s it....

The rest are decent/serviceable atm....

I should have said they are all shaping up to be. They still have inconsistencies in their games but still, not many 22 year olds that outperform them. The Kings, Rankine, Smith, Lukosious and the Lizard all have enough ability to win games off their boots, they just don't do it as often as Walsh, Butters, Rozee.

I think they were all hyped to be superstars at draft time....

Delean is pretty similar to Weightman. Takes speccies, kicks goals from everywhere and can crumb a goal... but thats pretty much it. Just a specialist goal kicker with not much else to his game up the field or down back etc.

Bit of Cody Weightman about him, loves a high fly, kicks goals, easily kicked a set shot from 50m in todays match. Nothing worse than a small medium fwd who has no kicking length.
Done well in his 3 champ matches.
Really like the offensive weapons of JD. As much as I like him, I have questions over his readiness for the hard physical yards required as a modern small/medium forward. Have yet to see him harass or tackle to the required level.

We already have Motlop who has similar traits. Jesse sees himself as a playmaker first. He has the ability to tackle and chase, but is spasmodic in his effort. His best says long term piece of the “puzzle”, his worst sees him where he currently is, in the twos.

Durds and Owies have plenty of defensive intent, I just question the “balance” and would like more evidence of pressure from Delean before locking in to him so to speak.

Delean is a more natural goal kicker than Motlop, basically kicks goals in every game he plays and has for a few years now. Bags of 4 and 5 aren't far off regulation for him tbh. He has decent speed and is an alright tackler but I do agree, he may not be up to AFL standard in that regard early on. Imo he'd just be replacing Owies as a natural reader of the play and while not super fast or strong, gives enough to get by.

Would still need an elite pressure forward to go with him and our other boys.

Watson in contrast brings electrifying speed and although his tackling isn't amazing, what he brings offensively opens up opportunities for everyone else too.

Don’t think we need another pure small forward. Motlop, Owies and Durdin should be plenty.

I would like a roaming third tall target with good hands who is good on the lead. Someone in the style of Henry/Johnson/George/Fritsch, who will not get in Harry or Charlie’s way but will cause problems on a 3rd defender.

Also, more creative half forwards who will find the ball 15+ times a game and are comfortable finding a target going into the forward 50. Cuningham will be one if he remains fit but let’s see how he goes. Fisher at his best is good enough but some competition for spots would be nice. We have lacked an elite talent at half forward for a long time.

Martin is somewhere in between both of these types. I hope he stays fit.
