Or we use the picks ourselves instead of throwing them away on one player:think:
Agree, only way we should consider a move for Reid is if multiple big name players depart at the end of year where picking him up wouldn't reduce our ability to get multiple kids in the door.

My opinion is that if we can only get 1 top 10 pick our priority will be:
Duursma>Mckercher>Watson>Wilson>Sanders

If we can get multiple top 10 picks our priority would be:
Watson>Duursma>Mckercher>Wilson>Sanders

KPP players - Walter, Read, Curtin, Caddy, Edwards, O'Sullivan, Croft all potential top 10-15 picks at this stage and I doubt we'll be in the race for any of them which likely pushes some of that those smalls our way wherever we finish.

I'm big on watson as well and others. We need to find our own trio of rozee butters dursma etc
Duursma, Watson and Wilson are the 3 that would be comparable, but how you get them is a whole other story. Duursma been somewhat quiet through the year and Watson is 170cm which may drop him down the rankings... Really our only hope of getting the both of them in a draft, Wilson unfortunately rocketing up the ranks. He's just an awesome powerful runner.

Height doesn't factor me. If you can play the right way. It's enough for me

If DeKoning goes to Sydney, we could have two picks inside top 10, earliest could be pick 3. Reckon that’s a good start for a trade for pick 1. Throw McGovern and Fisher in. Might need more, but it’s a start. Reid is exactly the type of guy need.

Would be amazed if we got a top 10 pick for dekoning.

I think is value is late first rounder at best.

Trading Cripps is a no brainer. Integral to the reset.
I think only 2 blokes should be off-limits. Curnow and Weitering. The rest should be available for the right price.

We have to be bold and take some risks because at the moment we don't have the right mix.

Taking risks shouldn’t be the answer. And if it is, we’re asking the wrong question.

A massive no to trading any of our top echelon.

Yup as many as possible of the following lads , Duursma, Watson,Wilson & Mckercher, would be an exceptional
outcome for the club
Great skills , good ball extraction, courage all the fundamental sorely lacking are there.

Top tier level players are great and recover top draft picks in a trade , pretty simply.
Our list needs urgent repair our pain ain’t simply going to vanish with a new season, our poor performances and misery won’t disappear into thin air.

Not massive on Harley Reid. Solid first round pick. But trading multiple first rounders to get him? No thanks.

Watson has match winning ability just like Reid. He's just a different size.

Solid I think he’s a bit more than solid

I agree with you on not getting involved though and yes Watson is the one I really really want…he is the one that could have a massive impact on our team in first year just because of the role he plays and how he goes about it but generally unless you’re an absolute freak first year draftees are in the team as role players not match winners

History shows the number 1 pick is rarely the best player in the draft.

And for me, that will be the case this year. I just don't see Reid (assuming he goes 1) as being better than a few others.

He'll be great don't get me wrong. I just don't think he's a generational talent or a freak like you mentioned out of the box (e.g. Daicos/Walsh).

There are so many variables, preparation and work ethic of the youngsters, possibility of injuries stifling the path but talent, aerobic capacity, athleticism above all, good footy IQ are very evident early in a players, they either have some of these traits or not, occasionally recruiters manage to get it spot on, and snare a gun, its not easy.
Let's hope Austin & co have a clear agenda on what's required and snare the right type of players, we desperately need, injection of quality midfielders and a mature Ruck man form somewhere.

The reason Reid is so highly rated is because he simply doesn't have any flaws to his game. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be the best player in the draft though. He can play all over the ground at an elite level, great overhead mark, kicks off both feet proficiently, pretty good tank, reads the play well and he's built like a brick sh**house, he's a nightmare match up everywhere on the ground at U18s..

Someone like Walter or Watson could very well end up a more impactful player in a specialist role like KPF/Small fwd, but Reid is about as bust proof as any kid in the last 20 years. He's Luke Hodge down back, Cripps in the midfield and Dusty up forward.

caddy’s the one

Unfortunately think he’s pick 2 so I think we will end up with Mckercher or Watson, which I’m still happy with. Very 2018 feel about this draft

Not sure Mckercher is our guy. Id love to find out his kicking efficiency for the game on the weekend. Just seems like he misses targets too often and his handballs are a bit loopy if that makes sense.

Watson is top of my list for now. He's useless if the ball is in the air but if he gets an opportunity at ground level watch out. It's always either a goal, a free kick for or a clean pick up.

Also a great set shot kick.
