I've redlined McKenna unless Coleman or Rich go down. I think Hunt at WC is a better option. He has more opportunity that McK to get games I'd think. Hunt has elements the Eagles are looking for whereas McKenna is a different version of currently existing assets for Brisbane.

EXACTLY THIS.
And with the year Coleman had last year, he'd be rated pretty highly at Brisbane.

McKenna was wooed by up to four clubs after indicating he'd be willing to return to the AFL. He chose Brisbane because he wanted to be close to a flag.

At worst, surely he starts in the team and is dropped should his form warrant.
Maybe he sacrificed job security for potential success.

If he’s picked rd 1 surely you just have to pick him and if not the decision is made for us

On the Daicos discussion, I’m genuinely quite surprised by his high ownership. I’m quite bullish about taking him on; hasn’t been in my plans at any stage. Don’t think there’s any hope in hell that he’ll go well enough to take a season away from you if you start without him, and I think there’s a better than decent chance he has a lukewarm year in comparison to his debut season.

Bookmark it - happy to have egg on face if he proves me wrong.

(Oh and yes I realise tigs2010 will take this post as huge validation to now lock Daicos at D1 and throw away the key 😂)

David King says we should pick Daicos

I think Daicos has a high % percentage for a few reasons:

- Everyone knows his story. If Young walked down the Melbourne CBD hardly anyone would recognise him. Daicos is a pie and the pies made finals so fans know him.

- He's a rookie who bloomed really quickly and people assume he'll just take the next step. They see him as a sure bet and aren't willing to dig around into kick out numbers or time in midfield.

- He's also the cheapest out of the well-known defenders. Cheaper than Docherty, Brayshaw, Stewart, Lloyd, Sinclair and Dawson who have become well known. Around his price he's more famous than say Young, Cumming, Dale etc.

Is he automatically a better pick than say Young? I dunno. I haven't picked him as I fear he'll get second-year blues and his role will change. I don't believe a midfield move will help his numbers necessarily. Crisp moved there and it hurt his numbers. It seems like the three main clearance winners for Collingwood: Crisp, Adams and De Goey are still part of their midfield makeup. If he's training with the midfielders, I need to know he gets key roles at stoppages. I'm not sure wing Daicos scores more than half-back flanker Daicos. If they push say Crisp back or De Goey forward maybe it makes sense as you're really picking a midfielder.

Freo Player Update

Young: Has been taking 80% of kick-outs and supposedly from training watchers, everyone is specifically looking for him on the rebound. I would be very surprised if he's not a top 6 DT defender by the end of the year Complete crab, dont pick him

Wagner: Interrupted preseason and wont be getting a game any time soon I dont think

Chapman: Has been playing a fair bit on wing in preseason but training reports havent been overly positive. One to watch over the first month.

Not sure anyone else worth discussing

Thanks. Now delete the bit about Young.

Young + Daicos D1+D2 could be a cost saving option.

Just not loving the higher priced options at the moment.

Can't quite justify Doch at his price from a value perspective (reckon he's mid 100s).
Too many questions on the rest

I've liked all three for the past few weeks. Am happy to believe one of Daics or Young will end up my D6 or better, with Doch D1 - that's two positions solved for the year. There is raft of quality Defenders and you can't have them all, but you could also throw a blanket over them at the moment. Trade in when they emerge I reckon.

Yep that’s a great summation. Nice work
