How comfortable is everyone with having a 2nd rook at D6 (e.g. Cincotta / Wilmot)?

Struggling to find a structure that I like without having 2 rooks in the backline as there is such a jump from the 200k rook to the next price point that I am comfortable with (Young / Daicos or maybe Ridley for a bit cheaper).

The problem comes when the bargain bin D6 sucks. I'm swimming in that puddle too.

Think the risk is high that if that D6 position does get dropped early, you’re then left having to downgrade a premo to get them up to anything worthwhile or, left with a donut on the bench for another 40/50 pt player to field.

I’ve got Ginbey D6 for this reason in my side and the only rookie onfield down back.

Agree with this. But geez it’s rough, assume it’s Constable at D5, Ginbey D6? 2 premiums and Yeo at 1-3, so need a mid pricer at D4 and there’s just nothing, cupboard is bare. Day the only one

Mitch Hinge is another option and seems to have claims on the wing at Crows and he was hitting the forward targets with the boot. 538K and tempting me.

I've thrown him in due to the lack of back rooks.
Worst case, what we saw in preseason (77) was rare and he is a lockdown def averaging 40-50 ... then downgrade to whatever back rook has shown cash cow promise.
Best case he is a floating lose back racking up intercepts and +6 all game.

This is what I'm struggling with. Are you better off playing rookie roulette with D6 (between say Chesser, Wilmot, Cincotta) for 200k rather than paying an extra 200k+ to get a mid-pricer that you aren't sold on (Hunter Clark is the only one i'm interested in but it still requires generating 400k from somewhere in your team).

I guess it's just a risk / reward play in banking that 1 of the non-Ginbey defender rooks does enough to justify not paying for a mid-pricer.

Yeah and it also depends if all 3 of Cincotta, Wilmot and Chesser are actually named round 1. All seem shakey JS wise

Sucks that Short isn't a defender...

Role for this year is in doubt. If Baker and Rioli stay back it leaves Short floating a bit.

His midfield work hasn’t impressed this preseason and there isn’t much room forward. Some don’t even see a spot in the 22/23.

I think that’s unlikely, but ask me where he fits; I have no idea. Maybe McIntosh’s wing is up for grabs. Maybe. Perhaps Pickett won’t be available round 1 which creates an opportunity but at this stage Short has flags all over him

I like the McGrath pick. I also like Duggan and Luke McDonald in that price range but I’m not brave enough.

Happy to leave Def a bit lame for the time being.

Man am i going crazy. Ive been playing fantasy for soo long and this is genuinely confusing me. In the stats collum on afl website. If it says 15 K and 10 M. Is 10 K counted in the 10 mark for when they mark or kick or is it completely different. Be nice this is my dumb moment.

Nah the kick is separate. Say no handballs at all then he’s marked and kicked 10 times and then 5 kicks from open play

Doc, N. Daicos, Ridley, Yeo, Constable/Cole and Ginbey here. Exact same thoughts re: Day, and def rookies are pretty dire right now, so don't want any of them on field bar Ginbey. Midfield has suffered to make it happen, but there's a lot of value there, so not entirely a bad thing.

Essentially went:

Cogs > Worpel (via Dunks forward, after hearing about Cogs' split role from Kingsley - likely scores similar to Worpel or 5-10 points extra)
L. Jones > Ridley
Cowan as depth at D7 instead of Fahey, with Wilmot rounding out the line at D8.

Feels more balanced all around, IMO.

Yup, how Hunt is only 4% of teams is beyond me!!

Guaranteed best 22 HBF, going to get plenty of ball down there and WC have a history of multiple backline players scoring well.

Also went at 87% DE on the weekend so his team mates won't be afraid to give him the ball!

I'm expecting 70 average and the perfect up/down player after 7-8 rounds.

Is it crazy to have 4 eagles in the backline. We know they will be bad so ball will be back there alot and they like to chip kick down there alot. Seriously thinking of going D3-D6 yeo hunt cole gibney. Constable is the only player i might put in there but i feel he is just an extra trade once powell and weller is back in a few weeks. Just dont feel he is best 22 but the eagles players are all safe.

lol crap im wrong again. You are right. For some reason i thought mark was 4 points. Still cant believe ive been playing this long and didnt know this. Funny enough when im counting in games im spot on. Never really have to count mark by itself usually its followed by kick +6 or handball +5 which is how i counted.

I'm confused? The score is on the AFL practice match website, so ya should just be able to see the actual scores next to their name??
