Not worried. I dont think JHF still has the tank to be permanently midfield (was reading somewhere that Port planning a 60 mid /40 fwd split). So imagine he'll switch it up with Rozee when resting forward. Also, Rozee looked really good in midfield (AA form), no way Port screw with that.Anyone scared by Rozee last minute?
Wines Drew JHF named on ball and Butters + SPP lurking around too for mid time. Surely they have to play him there given how good he was last year after the move but sheesh. It's a lot of bodies to cram in and he will play forward.. just about how much
Can’t imagine SPP plays much in the middle to be honest, more that dynamic high half forward role? Port supporters might be able to confirm.Anyone scared by Rozee last minute?

Surprised Drew is in tbh. Just seems like they've got a lot of guys in that 22 who need mid time. Either way surely even Hinkley isn't dumb enough to ditch probably the best move he's ever made putting Rozee in the middleCan’t imagine SPP plays much in the middle to be honest, more that dynamic high half forward role? JHF probably 60/40 at most as others have said.
Drew looks like a very one-dimensional sort of player so even though they need a defensive midfielder in there at times, SURELY they start to move on from him a little? It is Hinkley so who tf knows.
I think Boak moving out of those bulk midfield minutes is what makes Rozee’s role fairly safe. I’m happy enough sticking with him
Ruck Madness - why aren't more people jumping on Darcy Cameron? He will still take over half the ruck work and bloke can run, mark and tackle
Or are people worried about the preseason injury?
Will get tagged this year .....IMO is in the same boat as a Brayshaw with taggingSurprised Drew is in tbh. Just seems like they've got a lot of guys in that 22 who need mid time. Paying the extra for Cogs instead? Will get tagged this year .....IMO is in the same boat as a Brayshaw with tagging
Went JHF ....has superb midfield skills, a natural around the ball .....there's a media hatred of him, thus they've downplayed his performances thus farPaying the extra for Cogs instead?
No current season stats available
Cox looking better this year, from reports, he's like a fine wine, he's ages well.Ruck Madness - why aren't more people jumping on Darcy Cameron? He will still take over half the ruck work and bloke can run, mark and tackle

Whit off the HBF is a monty for top 6 def status I would of thought, key to him for me is how many games will he play before ruining himself? This probably belongs in the planning thread because I'm still planning, but that's locked so here we are (feel free to move it, please just don't delete it; I'm very conflicted).
There are good reasons not to start Whitfield (biggest one may be that he's currently mid-only) and all pre-season I've had a very vanilla team. But today I find that he's crept his way in to my line-up. It probably helped that I'd kept a lot of cash spare, so it was actually only a matter of going Bruhn (F5) down to Davey, Pedlar, or Long (F6, bumping Sheezel to F5), which is maybe a 20-30 point haircut (I don't really see Bruhn going anywhere higher than 80-85), and Oskar Baker (who I do like, but don't love the uncomfortable price) up to Whit, which I'm hoping will significantly exceed that differential (I'll be crying in the vent thread if not, if I do go with this team construction).
But the more fundamental reasoning is that with Whitfield owning that sweeping defender role, coupled with the fact that he'll surely have licence (and we know has the ability and fitness) to also do that gut-running handball-receiving stuff of his better past seasons, isn't he going 110+? And if he is, isn't he going to be an absolute s**t to get in when he gets DPP? He's priced at 91, and even if he only goes 105 he'll be a keeper (injuries aside).
Someone please talk me out of this or make me feel less worried that I'm doing a thing that I have done before — ruining my season with a last-minute change of heart. (Though of course I've been tempted by Whit for a while, I just hadn't bitten the bullet until today.)
Thought you meant Brodie Smith at first! Pretty interesting thought on WB though; guess I hadn't considered that much myself. His PPM would have been epic last year so I like the idea. Interestingly I'm employing similar thinking regarding Serong. Hopefully there will be enough rooks to warm Freo's bench.Whit off the HBF is a monty for top 6 def status I would of thought, key to him for me is how many games will he play before ruining himself?
I had him for a lot for the pre-season but settled on Brodie who I think could go nuts with a bit bigger tank this year.

I worry about Whit's body too, but he should be pretty mature by now. I am fading Butters because I still worry about him being hurt though.
I only just anointed my new nickname ... and you almost out mid-priced me. Have some respect, man!I think I'm ready. I'm gambling on Hinge but I have a feeling about him.

I would flick him and Rozee and get Cogs and play Fergus then another rookie.Any suggestions on how I can fix up Toby McLean without ruining my already ruined side.
Only 7k in the bank

So its either McLean down to Henry/Phillippou and then use the cash on top of either Ridley or Worpel.
Or find a way to downgrade someone and get McLean to Milera (33k), Bruhn (63k) or Flanders (100k). Josh Kelly is a potential downgrade, but I don't want to be too weak in the middle (Worpel at M4 is already weaker than I would have liked). Will Day down to Braeden Campbell is a move I am seriously considering.
Not keen on the ruck roulette of Xerri.
