They seriously couldn't find a better second venue than Norwood Oval? What a f***ing shithole.
Why is there another oval in the suburbs being used at all? They should have put Melbourne playing in the Barossa or Claire, wine country plus football for their supporter base was an obvious sell.

The scheduling has other obvious shortfalls beyond that. They've sensibly put a game before the Port game at AO to try and entice Port fans to get in early for the double header, so it's not a Footy Park empty benches flashback, but then have Adelaide as a stand alone game. It should be Richmond v Sydney or Collingwood v St. Kilda (as reasonably supported clubs in SA) to open Thursday night, then a low ranking game like Freo v GC the Friday afternoon at AO, before Adelaide the night game there.

I don’t understand Australia. For me, the decision felt really stupid. It was the AFL to lose with it.
Travis Auld of AFL at the presser today to launch the games in Adelaide, said they always give the first round release story to the Herald Sun for their Sunday edition. Its bullshit and he knows it but none of the journos were going to question it.

Its why they haven't given the drop kick the job to take over from Gil.

From the club

Dear REH,

All 18 teams will come together in Adelaide for Gather Round...A Festival of Footy!

As a Port Adelaide game-access member, you have the opportunity to redeem one free ticket to watch us take on the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval on Saturday April 15 at Adelaide Oval.

This is an additional benefit to your 2023 membership package and does not impact your existing entitlements for next season.

Tickets go on-sale Monday 12th December via Ticketek. Game-access members have access to a priority redemption period from 12:00pm - 4:00pm (SA time) before tickets go on sale to the general public at 5:00pm (SA time).

To redeem your free ticket, you must enter your individual 12-character voucher code detailed below. Your membership barcode will not unlock this additional benefit for Round 5.

Your ticket will also include access to the Essendon vs. Melbourne game on the same day at Adelaide Oval.

Your voucher code(s):
POACAEBxxxxx (i've inserted the xxxxx)

This voucher code can alternatively be used to redeem a discounted Adelaide Oval multi-day pass to watch our match and others at the venue across the round. The member discounted price accounts for the free ticket to watch us play.

One ticket OR multi-day pass can be redeemed per access code up to the transaction limit of 10 tickets/passes. To redeem multiple tickets or passes as a group with other members, you will need their voucher code.

Additional tickets will not be available for purchase during the member priority redemption period.

Tickets for Adelaide Oval matches will be issued as reserved seats or in the event you select ‘The Hill’, these will be general admission.

The voucher code is valid both in the member priority redemption window and in the general public on-sale, with tickets subject to availability.

I have a Reserved Seat membership; can I access my same seat?

To ensure equal access to tickets for both competing teams, Members will not have access to their regular seat. Plus, sections will open up for sale as ticket sales increase, so it may be possible that not all sections will be available. We recommend purchasing best available tickets to ensure a smooth checkout process.

Do Members have access to Gather Round?
Yes, 2023 members with game access memberships can access a FREE ticket to the Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs game. If a game access member would like to attend other games as part of Gather Round you will need to purchase a member discounted ticket.

Members who do not have game access included in their membership will need to purchase tickets via the General Public on-sale.

Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs and Essendon v Melbourne at Adelaide Oval is a double header therefore your ticket will provide entry to both games.

When do tickets go on-sale?

Tickets will be available via Ticketek on Monday 12th December.

Game Access Member presale – 12pm-4pm (local time)
General Public - 5pm (local time)

When did this email drop ... I havent seen one as yet.

So will the AFL now release the full round to the Herald Sun for their Sunday papers like they did for Rd 1?? I'd be tempted to go watch the team we play in Rd 6 or 7, so given members have an early window to make purchases that would be useful.

2.01. But they usually do it in 4 or 5 batches. Maybe because I'm in Club 1870 I was in the first batch.

Why can't we just use our season passes ? Too easy I suppose.
Because most people have reserved seats and you aren't getting that seat, so you have get a new one allocated.

I got mine at 2:00pm and I am not a Club 1870 member. Maybe the batches are less elitist than you think.
I knew it wasnt alphabetic as I would be in the last batch if it was split in 4.

Sod all that.

Too much fuss, I buy a season ticket because I can’t be arsed with all this nonsense and like to sit where I like to sit.

I’d rather pay for something I want, than get something I don’t really want for free.

Kinda hoping my own sporting commitments (not footy) mean I don't get dragged into this f*ckery, a couple we know are Port/Bombers supporters so I can just see them trying to drag us there to make a day of it

Wouldn't mind going to our game against the Dogs, but like others I'm wondering how the stadium will manage clearing out attendees of the previous match.

They aren't kicking people out between matches.

says that Port/Bulldogs tickets grant access to Essendon/Melbourne as well.

What it does mean though is the pool of tickets is being split between 4 teams
