Wonder if we'll look to trade into the next couple of picks for Lual without risking the Dogs matching
No.

Dodo with a shit-eating grin, having pinched Lual from Dogs.

Any love for Sanchez?
Another small forward? Good player, but surely we need to balance the list.

ZZ, Joel Freijah, Harvey Johnston, Ollie Murphy, Kane McAulliffe would still be decent, and match some needs.

Joe Fonti, WA overager.

STRENGTHS:

  • Athleticism
  • Impact per possession
  • Intercept marking
  • Speed

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Production
  • Strength

Joe Fonti is an over-aged draft bolter who enjoyed a purple patch of form through the WAFL Colts with Claremont, earning a call-up to the West Australian Under 18 team. He held his own at the National Championships, averaging 12.3 disposals, 3.3 marks, 2.7 inside 50s and 2.3 rebounds 50s, showcasing some of his outstanding athletic traits.

Fonti went on to blitz the Draft Combine with a ridiculous 94cm running vertical jump, 2.884 seconds in the 20m sprint, and a blistering 7.977 seconds in the agility test. He finished top five in all three, which would have further endeared him to clubs. Fonti also has a high impact-per-possession, which helps him catch the eye on-field.

At this stage, the over-ager is quite lightly built at 73kg, but a good size at 188cm. With his athletic gifts and aerial ability, he could fill out a number of roles at AFL level and that kind of upside is what may land him a list spot in what is expected to be a draft crop lacking substantial depth.

DRAFT RANGE: Late/Rookie

They're addicted to strong testers at the combine lol, bit worrying he was an over age player and wasn't more productive. Running/intercepting defender isn't really a need, felt like there were better options to fit our needs

So, I guess the one remaining question is around Harvey Thomas.

Do we take him in the ND? Do we match a bid if it comes? Do we take him with #50 anyway? Do we trade #50, or pass, and try to get him through to the rookie draft? We can cover a bid with little carryover from #48 (so, we're effectively OK to get him from now with #64).

If there's someone we could use like ZZ, do we take them and trust that Harvey doesn't get bid on. And if so, suck it up and take Charlie McCormack as B Cat rookie instead?

The overagers have had their 16-17 years effected by Covid. There is a lot of gems to be found in this age group.
