From a structure perspective we are so much better when Brent Daniels plays. His chasing, pressure and two way running is elite.

We really need to have a strong focus on bringing in a couple more players with his type of attributes.

He is very disruptive and creates opportunities, a lot of what he does may not show up in stats but it’s so valuable. Love him.

Blowing my own trumpet here but I’ve been saying this for a while. Can’t wait to see Jones and Beds in there with Binga.

Yeo he played great, moving forward Jones, Bedford and Daniels should be a really good complimentary trio

Bit random but we have two first round draft picks this year. What areas of our list do you think we should target with our two picks?
If we know Himmelberg is leaving I think we should recruit a 195cm plus key and best available mid.

Regardless of HH, I think we take another tall and the best available id as you suggest

The club will do all it can do sign HH and Ash? Of the 18 players remaining that are out of contract by the end of this year, these two will be our biggest priorities?

News Corp Network did a roundup of the lists of Victorian/Tasmanian TAC Lists for this year, including identifying players with father/son and other football backgrounds. There were some interesting notes on players with some connections to the Giants. These were:

Bendigo Pioneers:

“Jed Daniels is a cousin of GWS forward Brent Daniels and is a similarly speedy forward”. His height is given as 172.8. Daniels is also recorded as from ‘Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers’, great name for a club.

“Glen Gilbee is considered a very similar player to his brother Jason, who was drafted to Greater Western Sydney last year”. His height is given as 181.8 cm.

GWV Rebels:

“Nick Cadman is the younger brother of last year’s No. 1 draft pick, Aaron Cadman, but is new to the Rebels’ program and has some learning ahead of him”. His height is given as 185 cm.

I am a little bit annoyed but this. I know we are all potentially anonymous posters, but I reckon i have seen 10 different posts confirming we gave up too much to get Cadman.
Paying overs to move up the trade board and overs to retain players? Surely we can do better than that. Would Cogs, Kelly, Whitfield accepted one year less on an average 100k less? Maybe not. Maybe they had to do that to get their signature. If so,,lobby the AFL to change free agency. Players can still move freely after 8 years, but the signing club has to pay some form of compensation. This will stop the outrageously generous offers thrown at our players.

Sam McClure seems to have it in for gws .. he's the turd what spread the shite about cogs causing jezza to leave last week .... he's a bitter little worm
From memory he's a Dogs supporter... Go figure.

Don't think we paid too much for Cadman and if it works out no one will care how much paid for at the time and even if it doesn't of course it'll suck but Cadman is exactly the kind of KPF you trade up for, no flight risk, rapid development, very productive at every level, heaps of room to grow, great athlete. There wasn't really much to pick at as a prospect, if it doesn't works out it'll be dissapointing but at least we know our process was sound and it was the right decsion. We also operate on a different pick economy to everyone else, we get picks in much higher quantities to everyone else due to our player turnover so paying up a bit extra doesn't hurt us as much as it would another team, doesn't mean it's alright to consistently cut corners on trades and always pay more then we have to but we can live with it every know and then and especially when it's a prospect like Cadman.

We really didn't have much choice. Needed a forward. Couldn't take Cheezel.
We got two first rounders'.
Next year we will get two first rounders'.

Wonder if this Richmond pick turns out a bit better then initally thought, wasn't overly impressed with what they served up against Carlton

:) Deathriding can be fun. Who can forget the joy that was 2021! No-one expected the Pies to finish that low on the ladder. :)

Can 🌩️ strike twice?

Based on this re-signing of Himmelberg is going to be hard? Hopefully the offloading of Hopper and Toranto helps

I severely dispute those numbers.

At the time, all of those contracts were reported signifcantly lower, I think it is all assumptions based on not much and flies in the face of what the club is putting out there.

I reckon McClure has a bone to pick with GWS at the moment.

that game was low quality.

if it had have been 2 lesser clubs they would have been heavily panned.

Would love that to come up to pick 5 or something.

We could throw in our pick 18 and move it up to a top 3 pick or something,

From an article today by Jon Ralph dealing with general draft/trade matters:

"BATTLE OF THE BRIDGE HEATS UP OFF-FIELD

Sydney’s determination to be active in the trade market has them registering interest in cross-town swingman Harry Himmelberg.

Himmelberg took a mark of the year contender in the Giants’ round 1 victory over Adelaide but has been used back since the halfway mark of 2022 despite his unerring accuracy as a forward.

GWS is keen to keep him and believes he is seriously considering staying.

But given his free agency status clubs like Adelaide and Sydney will assess his market worth.

The Giants would not match a deal worth well over $700,000, which would also trigger first-round compensation.

Richmond’s first-round pick is already in the Giants’ keeping so if Himmelberg left they would have three top-15 picks in an upcoming superdraft.

But they would far prefer securing Himmelberg given his unique skillset at a club that has much of the salary cap tied up in elite midfielders."
