Oh I don’t mean he’ll go to Richmond - just the ‘bring him home’ comments are silly when he has zero connection to our club.
His old man played nearly 100 games for us, a few more and he'd be in our colours already, that's not zero connection.

I’m pretty aware of that. Despite this though Noah was a Tigers supporter so clearly felt no connection to either of the clubs his old man playerd for.

If you look at the free agents who have really made a difference in recent years, you would have to single out Steven May, Tom Lynch and Jeremy Cameron. All are key position players who were already top tier when they moved clubs. Lynch and Cameron were both AA and May was not far off and club captain. When the time, is right a player of that calibre should be in our sights - that that is a couple of years off. I have no problem picking up a cheapie or two but we need to be thinking longer term.

That's not clear at all. You can't be certain he felt no connection. Will Day didn't support the Hawks but he seemed pretty chuffed to play for the club his grandfather did.

It's like when players move teams and has a options. People act like the teams that weren't chosen, the player was never interested in. Reality is, the player strongly considers multiple options before choosing the preferred.

The connection may be there, but that he would be in our colours now is quite debatable.

He may very easily have refused the FS offer.

He could have, but not many do. Especially when the alternative is a club like Gold Coast. I mean Ashcroft didn't even want to go to Brisbane but picked it over a basket case in North.

His Dad has a great connection with StKilda FC. Former footy director. The HFC holds very little appeal to both Noah and his Dad.

I would be stunned if Noah does not remain at GC.

Gee he's a twice Premiership player for us and he feels no connection. That's bizarre.

The Anderson talk is mind numbing.

He wasn’t a FS, he doesn’t and didn’t follow us, and there’s zero to suggest he wants to leave the Suns or join us.

Do we need to start a hypothetical thread already?

"...and Christian Petracca...and Noah Anderson...and Bont...and Walsh...and..."

Someone like Anderson would be a prime target for a contending club (which we are a few years away from being).

There is nothing to say McKenzie or Weddle can’t be at the same level in the next 2 or so years. Rowell is a case in point - 1st year out he was excellent but has since faded a bit whereas Anderson is building nicely.

Am sure MM has got a list of potentials they can target in the next 2-3 years I.e. the next Tom Lynch or Jeremy Cameron types.

Only because he is pissed off with the club from way back. If we made an effort to reconcile somewhat and if we wanted to chase Noah and that was 1 of the sticking points the landscape could change around that. Dean has history with the club whether he wants to accept it or not and was pivotal in at least 1 of our flags. (1989).

Dean attends all the PPA events. Not as estranged as you think although he has another opinion of Alan Joyce.

All that said, I don’t expect Noah to want to go anywhere.

He attends because of the mates he still has from his era. It's senior management from back than he has issue with. Isn't heart and soul Hawthorn which is a shame but that's life.

You can also count on posts talking up how to bring Ginnivan home all year also.

Agree. Add sheezel to the list.

You don’t need to support the club to be one of their better players.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Hodge didn’t support us growing up.

Only a handful of guys on our current list supported HFC as kids: McKenzie, ward, scrimshaw and McGuinness.

Not that it matters, but Jai, Moore and now Stephens too...

Pretty sure Hodge was a Tigers supporter growing up.

Gresham top games are better than Moores for mine. Where he falls down is consistency, he just has a number of poor games where Moore is always contributing to the team.

Another thing going for Moore his he is on the way up. Gresham seems to have stalled in his development.
He’s at St Kilda where development goes to die…

Trying to butter Dean up 30 years later so we can get to his son is pretty cynical and tacky, and would be smelt from a mile away. I hope we’d be trying to bring him back into the fold like all disgruntled past players but I don’t think that’s the way to get to Noah.

I agree Noah Anderson is someone worth looking at but at what cost? GC play hard on the ones they value highly (JOM) and chuck out others (Bowes). they didn’t fight too hard on Rankine so find them difficult to predict.
