Having to register for away seats is hassle I don’t need.
Will be changing to a home membership only.

I maintained my full Legends membership through covid.

This is the reward.

It wasn’t really up to the club to be fair. Your anger should be directed at the MCC if anyone but the current deal was never going to carry over now that Richmond are drawing crowds with their bandwagoners on board

Spot on, pz!

For a historical perspective, the 1999 deal was negotiated mostly by Kevin Rose in the midst of the construction of the competing Docklands Stadium and with the new conjoined MCG Northern Stand in the pipeline.

There were obviously clear options for prospective tenants and despite the fact that we were shit in the late 1990's, we were still the best drawing club in the longer term.

So we nutted out a sweet deal on a Brodie Grundy-esque 25 year term. Was never a 999 year term! That'd cover a few lifetimes.

But it was finite and as with all licence agreements, they come to an end and need to be renegotiated. Whilst I agree with George Costanza that the best tactic in negotiations is the 'walk-out', our only 'walk-out' alternative is to drag 110,000 members to a 56,000 seat stadium that already has a number of tenants and seats already reserved by AFL/Medallion members.

I feel for those affected, but we've still got the best deal at the G in the comp. Deal with this gracefully and keep the toys in the cot!

I’ve paid premium rate for my legends seat on level 2 since it’s inception 20+ years ago.

Sorry guys, but no ******* way are you seeing me sit on level 4.

Eddie did the deal for life.
I bought in on that basis.
I seriously doubt that Brown went 10/10ths, and that his happy compromise happens to screw me and my mates over.

Bet ya Browny and the board don’t end up sitting on level 4.
Eddie signed the deal, but even by Eddie's own admission, Kevin Rose drove it.

It was only ever for 25 years, which is actually a ****ing long time for a licence of this nature.

If you were made to think that it was a 25+25+25+25+25 year deal then take that up with Eddie:

“When the new Northern Stand was opened, I invited all the Collingwood members to turn up, I showed them where their seats were and stood with MCC boss Stephen Gough and told our supporters ‘that is your seat for life’.

The issue is that Eddie went onto say:

“That was the deal in word and spirit.”

Well, it was clearly never the deal with the MCC in word, because if it were, this new negotiating wouldn't be happening!

Ed's showbiz nature is both his strength and is also what leads him into trouble.

Questioning Browne and Kelly's commitment to this issue is weak form IMHO. For the reasons outlined above, we'd have kept the status quo if we could, but we weren't in the same bargaining position as the late 90's.

I agree that if they're price-gouging a reduced number of a guaranteed allocation of Level 2 seats with a bit of a three card trick of some "premium" (but very underwhelming!) add ons and then don't discount the Legends Memberships for those negatively impacted, then the current leaders deserve a kick in the arse for that.

The whole AFL is a ridiculous system.

It's a collection of member owned not for profits that gets an incredibly lucrative tv deal that could very easily cover the industry costs and expansion goals with employess being paid extremely well. But that's not enough - they then also try to generate as much revenue as possible from their members to distribute in ever-increasing extremely large salaries to the employees in the industry.

If a pty ltd company acted this way and looked to get as much money from their owners as possible in order to distrubute in wages to industry insiders - they'd be crucified.

I’m Level 1 as well.

Pretty nervous we’re going to be shafted up to Level 4.
Me too, from their email it looks like they’re going to contact level 2, then level 1 based on years of service and attendance.

“Starting with current Level 2 seat holders, Members will be contacted in order of years-of-service, filtered by attendance.”

Hi everyone, I don’t usually post on here just usually look for Jen2310 training reports (love your work Jen).
