In all seriousness, it's time for Cunners to get this out of his game. It happens in a split second, and he clearly isn't doing it deliberately, but it's now in his psyche and unless he tries to mentally focus on not doing it, it will happen again. Last thing we want is for him to cop a suspension just before a key match or a final, dare I say it.

He gets frustrated because he plays footy like a man against flogs that push, hold, pinch and snipe him, then gets nothing from the umpires, and he responds.

He doesn't dive, and it works against him.

If he threw his hands up in the air a la Dangerfield/Selwood/Ablett, he'd end up with 3 free kicks in the first 15 minutes and it would cease.

Cunners could end up with a rep similar to Lloyd if he continues with these stupid gut punches. Surely a ‘sniper’ comment will be heard on the ground shortly.
Have you seen social media, he is already copping it. Not that Cunners could give 2 f***s.

Frustration is part of the reason, but Gresham wouldn't have been the bloke to hit if this was the motivation. Belt Steele, to try and break the tag. Cunners is doing it as part of him playing "angry" which is his gameday mode full stop IMO.

I know what your saying but in playing to win he may need to bring the umpires attention to being held. As it stands the broadcasters watch him like a hawk and relish the opportunity to highlight when he makes them earn it. He is going to get scrubbed out soon.

I reckon Chrisso knows full well, having dished out plenty of those himself, that there's no way one will stop a bloke from playing. Or give him concussion or anything dangerous.

Part and parcel of footy.

Christian will probably meet Cunners at a darkened wharf after the season and give him the fines back.
Chrisso, Banks, Gayfer and Kelly were experts at this sort of stuff. Chrisso loves it.

By ‘on the ground’ I mean amongst the players. I don’t think he gives a turtle’s tush about social media or the opposition fans. But his fellow footballers???

This is spot on. But I’ll add that he needs to be on the move at the stoppage to make it more obvious like the above do.

How's the agenda on this? The replay clearly shows no contact with Merrett's head. Last I checked the AFL was all about impact - not imagined impact.

According to the media Cunnington should breathe a sigh of relief because he didn't get suspended for making contact with a football. Right...

Hitting the ball was an afterthought with the commentary. And wasn't mentioned again after the incident.

Averaging 19 reports a game with the way he's been punching the ball.
