He'd likely be well out of our reach if he were.

We need a intercepting defender more than a forward right now..
What would I know.
Morris definitely has the elite hands and footy IQ to make it either end of the ground IMO. Smart player, reads the flight of the ball really well.

Yup it is. No doubts.
Has to be overs for WCE to even entertain it.

Needs to make them feel like they are winning.

But North have enough top 10 talent under 21.
So I'd be gunning for an absolute superstar and if they think Pick 1 is it....then i'd take that over the other picks.
Yep, I can't believe WCE are thinking of not trading it, trade it for pick 2 and all the end of first rounders, They need serious help and 1 player won't cut it. Use 2 on Curtin and find some other kids with the 3 or 4 other picks.

Maybe north need to turn those later picks into a top 10 somehow. because 2 and 3 is too much together

If I am the Weagles I wouldnt trade 1. Harley Reid is a generational talent. Nick Daicos is similar. Pies probably dont make 8 without him last year nor win flag this year without him.

Weagles can rebuild other years and did pick up 3-4 good players last year.

Yeah I know what you're saying.
I'd consider trading it though for picks 2 and 3.
Two top 3 players. Better than 1

Harley Reid in the same sentence as Nick Daicos.

Collards highlights do look good, I've come around to him. If we go that way, and clearly he is highly rated by clubs. If we can then get a tall with our 2nd pick, then that would be a win on both accounts.
As for the flight risk, I do feel we can create an environment where he would be comfortable and stay, and Allan can help with that given he is from WA too. DC as well.
Maybe his parents can move with him if he is struggling. I would think that recruiters would do their homework and if they actually thought he was that bad of a risk that he would struggle to adapt, they woudln't risk it.

Agree, and if he was a risk, then the same could be said for all the Tassie boys getting drafted.
You would think that as soon as Tasmania comes into the competition in 2028, that alot of these boys would want to return home. But you back in your system and environment that they will want to stay and be a player for your club over the next 10 years....

Schultz, Elliott, Hill and McCreery is already a very good group of small/medium forwards so potentially not taking on another in Collard if the club is wary of the go home factor seems an understandable decision.

To be honest I feel we have a greater need for KP prospects followed by midfield this draft.

Collard does look talented however and Hine was a fan of Bolton before Richmond pounced so the allure might be hard to resist.
It seems they think the kid can push into the midfield. So that could be the reason they are keen on him if he is still around.

Everyone is talking about the Tassie boys as though they are a bigger risk than SA and WA kids.

There is some prospect that the Eagles try and offer their future first round to snaffle Curtain if he slips a little.
From about the Giants pick on they could offer their future 1st, which is likely a top 3-5 pick, to bring in a highly rated local kid.
Cupboard looking bare next season in terms of quality WA kids apparently.
A Reid/Curtain double would be a great draft haul.

The move to bring Curtain and Reid in is genius in one sense, but the deal has disaster written all over it because WC are odds on to go back to back spooners (Richmond are their main contenders, IMO). Unless GWS are giving both 7 and 16 they’ve been kissed on the proverbial come draft time yet again. It surprises me that the Dees aren’t all over that one.

Well the opportunity to represent your state via an AFL team, and to be part of that inaugural team, could well be incentive enough to get some of these boys to return initially.
The WA and SA boys decisions to return home are now based on different factors, such as family or other personal reasons. There’s not a real pull to want to return just so they could play for one of the teams in those states.

Is playing for a start up that is likely to be a basket case to begin with that attractive? They'll have a heap of cash to splash around, that'll be the big incentive I think.

The cash will be a factor too, but l think to play for the state basically and in front of your family and friends every other week and live in an environment you're comfortable in, will be just as much a factor...
