Few different observations as to what’s already been said
*Poo has lightning hands and was being used as a midfielder in all drills/match sim and will be very good in time but I don’t think he will be in our R1 side.
*Coff running extremely well looks to have put on a heap of size just moves so well looking forward to have him back
*windy will be our best midfielder in a year or two as others have said. Just explodes and has that basketball evasion in and out of traffic
*Van es does everything well except kicking the footy. Needs to improve that area of his game before he gets a crack imo
*stocker earmarked as a defender and looks like he will be fine. I feel as though once we get a few injuries he will get his chance
*jack peris is the whipping boy multiple times he copped a spray from either teammates or coaches but has raw speed.
*Ruck stocks is a worry with heath looking no where up to it atm. Looks like they are playing owens 1 out full forward with him most likely to take the forward throw ins. I don’t mind this - he just doesn’t lose 1 on 1s

Any questions happy to answer on others

It's baffling we didn't sign someone. The situation we are now in up forward was completely foreseeable. We saw it in the last 6 weeks, and that was with King in the side.

I understand our reluctance to part with draft picks but surely there was someone out there we could have gone harder at to prevent 2nd year midfielders having to pinch hit in the ruck
Saw owens up close. He is taller than Membrey, Battle, Wilkie, etc. He is going to hurt some defenders this year with his attack on the ball
Mitch & His good mate Marcus Windhager both have the build of a hardened 25 year old!!

What is this monstrosity

It's surprising that Stocker is training as a defender. Wasn't the earlier commentary that he was being misused by Carlton as a defender and was not given a chance to play to his strengths, which is in the middle?

Agree with you on Cordy. I've noticed a few on here criticize him on his running, but at the end of the day, the saints didn't bring him in to win marathons. He is not your dashing half backer, more a one on one stopper type defender. Probably a back up, but an important one. The season is long.
A defender must have decent endurance in order to go with mobile forwards that move up and down the ground & can double back!

Stoked for this bloke, didn’t ever get a crack at Carlton on ball where he thrived. Seems the Blues looked at his recruitment profile and were adamant on him becoming a Luke Hodge type instead.

Think he goes well for you, have seen enough to think he belongs at the level so to get him for free after letting him run around with your senior list at training for a couple months is a massive tick.

I think it’s extraordinary that Carlton delisted him. He can play, just need to find the right position for him.

I think the Blues will look back and wonder why they let him go.

I think best will be to ease him in, still young and behind quite a few in terms of spots in the midfield. Will have to keep improving his running before he becomes full time mid

Pretty sure you are allowed a max of 38 on your senior list with a total of 42 or less across both senior and rookie lists. Plus 2x Cat. B's

Arent SSP signings automatically rookies? Which makes us 36 + 5 with 1 spare spot. Plus Peris & McLennan

Normal Rookie spots don't seem to make much difference anymore.
We have our 2 Cat B's, + 41 others ( including Stocker ) so that's one spot remaining.
I guess at least 3 are Rookies, but they haven't really kept us up to date with which ones.
Stocker is a rookie. Hayes signed a new contract last year, so i don't know about him.

You are allowed to be flexible, ie 36 Senior, and 6 Rookies, or 38 senior and 4 Rookies. If we use the last spot it will be for a Rookie whatever the figures currently are.

Dmac was overheard telling Jones on the boundary that the match sim they were doing was crazy intense and not like regular match sim. Might go some way to explaining the drop off in skill?
They have been doing full gym sessions prior to training

Officially I believe:

Wood (3rd Year)
Heath (3rd Year)
Sharman (3rd Year)
Hayes (2nd Year)
and now
Stocker (1st Year)

are our 5/6 Cat A Rookies: and the top 3 will need to officially be promoted next season.

Yes it's a joke and I could write paragraphs upon paragraphs of why the whole Primary-Rookie List needs a serious overhaul

Couple things, since his under 18s Owens has had a Knack for finding the sticks. Doesn’t matter if it’s in the air on the ground he just seems to find the crumbs and kick goals.

So he can contest the mark, bring it to ground, crumb it and finish it.

I’ve said it before, but probably worth mentioning. In all my sporting years I learned pretty quickly that any player who can hold a spot on a list, in the face of relatively poor running power, is to be watched carefully in full contact drills and treated with respect.

Because what they lack in aerobic ability they are compensating in some other aspect.

Sometimes they make up for it with sublime skills, but most times they bring a fearless, almost reckless physicality to their game.

I’m hoping that’s the case with Cordy. And I’m fully ready to give him the benefit of the doubt if the new coaching group thinks he is good for our structure.
