Oohhrrrrrrr carrrnnn mate
Christ, some of you folks are really a type. Can't do this, must do that...
We all have habits that are hard to quit, big footy being the one common one. I stopped drinking when I was 19, never once missed it or felt I was missing out on some grand pleasure in life. I only drink coffee when I need to stay awake for road trips etc. It makes me irritable and clammy. The crap people go on about having the right beans, method blah blah blah - you might as well be promoting the poetry of Mark "Robbo" Robinson.
Having said that, I consider myself cheerfully nihilistic so I don't know maybe getting into the intricacies of drinking alcohol and coffee will somehow infuse my hollow view of life with meaning.
That’s what Austinnn said at his last health checkupMeh. Fills a hole.
Meh. Fills a hole.
Ain’t that the truth! We are St Kilda supporters. That's just a bridge too far!
Oh, so you’re one of those Garfield “I’m not overweight, I’m undertall”Given up on getting thinner working on getting taller
After 2 years of focusing on low fat carbs, getting fatter each month and constantly hungry, l moved to consuming 2kgs of roast beef per week. I start with a couple of slices for breakfast with a coffee and snack on it through the day. Lunch is unrestricted but I'm not really hungry anymore so it's always something small. I'll have a slice or two when l get home and no appetite for a proper dinner after that. I'm loosing half a kg each week with no real exercise and still way too much beer. My alertness and cognition are greatly improved and my food expenditure has halved, l also have no interest in carbs anymore. My wife has me on a diet at the moment that's the fast 800 or some s**t. You can eat veggies except potatoes and starchy stuff, it's kind of sensible keto. No pasta or rice or anything though. I'm as irritable as * without bulk carbs.
You've kind of hit the nail on the head here. 7 years from draft to premiership.
Our cobbled together midfield shows little sign of getting to the necessary hights in the necessary timeframe.
We can almost say that anyone over 26yo may as well be traded.
A bit over dramatic l know, but where is our Trac, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw?
If it's Windy, Owens, Pou then l have to say we're probably still going nowhere.
We'll see what the season brings. I think we have some good pieces, but the puzzle is still very obscure ASAIC.
I'm also hopeful that our team follows a similar path. However our hopes rest on as yet unproven kids so I'll remain circumspect till the end of the year.Collingwood In 2008 finished 8th with a young core of (Pendles 20, Thomas 21, Swan 24, H.Shaw 23, Cloke 21, Lumumba 22, Brown 20) all of which played between 18-24 games that season.
They had older players in R.Shaw, Fraser, Johnson, Medhurst, O'Bree, Lockyer, Rocca, Wakelin, Burns, Prestigiacomo and Holland
2 years later when Collingwood won in 2010 Wakelin, R.Shaw, Holland & Rocca were gone and Johnson was the only guy out of the rest to play in the Grand Final. The rest played 10 games or less for the year.
They did however bring in Jolley, Ball, Leigh Brown and Sidebottom (08 draft)
But their Premiership team had the likes of Jarryd Blair, Brent Macaffer, Sharrod Wellingham, Chris Dawes & Alan Toovey ffs.
All those guys were off the list within a few years and some out of the AFL all together.
My point is, things can happen quickly in football and luckily for us our core of quality senior players (Steele, Wilkie, Sincs & Marshall) are all still only 26-27. We just need good solid "reliable" contributors to compliment those guys as well as our young core of King, Windy, Pou, Owens, Nas, Sharman to step up and a 1 or 2 of Keeler, Heath, Van Es & Adams to become AFL quality talls.
We have the right coach and systems in place to maximise the talent currently on the list and fastback their development. There won't be anyone gifted games under Ross so you know were at least going to give effort.
So even though this season may have it's ups and downs and I still hope we can surprise a few. I genuinely feel in 2023-24 we can attack the top 4 hard.
*Also have to nail this upcoming Draft & Trade period
*ing exercise

Ross has said a few times it only takes a couple of good drafts and everything is good again. We really need to overachieve at every draft to make up for lost time. Nas is a huge loss because even if we get a couple of draft picks for him, losing a good one and sinking all that development into him is a kick.
A couple of years ago the 2017 draft seemed to set us up and now we have Clark possible gone, (we traded out of the FR of the previous draft to get this pick) Coff still not best 22 after a bad injury interruption, Clavarino gone, Paton looking like he's not made a jump since also injured, Langlands and Pierce gone from the rookie list. If we get the picks wrong we are going to struggle.
Melbourne traded out of the first rounds of that draft and still got Petty, Fritsch and Spargo.
Brisbane finished down the ladder and picked up Rayner, Zac Bailey and Starcevich.
Dogs finished higher than us and got Naugthon and Ed Richards.
That's the kind of drafting we need to get to. Your head recruiter is your most important staff member.
We’ll need to nail the next couple of drafts plus hopefully pick up a decent free agent.Collingwood In 2008 finished 8th with a young core of (Pendles 20, Thomas 21, Swan 24, H.Shaw 23, Cloke 21, Lumumba 22, Brown 20) all of which played between 18-24 games that season.

Van ess gonna be a jet imo. Usually guys like him are slow. But he has some good speed. Lots of clubs were keen on him too.Ross has said a few times it only takes a couple of good drafts and everything is good again.
The last 2 look like giving us 4 best 22 picks.
Without seeing Van es Hotton Keeler.
Was reading Carlton have major salary cap issues. SOS could be an inspired appointment. We’ll need to nail the next couple of drafts plus hopefully pick up a decent free agent.
Strong draft this year!!
Most people’s idea of coffee is that sugar syrup horseshit Starbucks frappe stuff.Nothing wrong with coffee as long as you’re not overloading it with sugar. Coffee drinkers live longer - fact.
Wilkie Vice Captain! One step away from him being skipperJack Steele will once again lead the Saints, with the two-time All Australian confirmed as captain for the club’s 150th year.
Steele will be aptly supported by first-time vice-captain, Callum Wilkie, with Tim Membrey, Seb Ross and Jack Sinclair rounding out the five-man leadership group.
This will be the third season with Steele at the helm; his second as standalone captain.

I thought his kicking looked good as well, which I thought the knock on himHis size and athleticism for his current age is impressive. He already looks to have the body that often takes players 3-4 seasons to develop.
I thought he looked right at home in the match sim as well.
I don’t really understand the push for him to become captain.Wilkie Vice Captain! One step away from him being skipper
