Yes we have other options besides King, but we have no other options that the opposition would be majorly worried about.

King spent much of last year battling 2 to even three defenders.

Despite his errant kicking, and poor use of him by Ratts, King was a major and effective threat as a key forward last year.

RTB and his assistants are going to have make sure we have multiple options, and that unlike last year that our players become instinctive to always take the best option.

Honestly the way we used him last year was a hinderance despite him playing better than could be expected. Sometimes what is good for the player isn't the best for the team. If he's there we aren't smart enough to look for other options. Memberey is being wasted away from goal and if we can get a big mark spiller to feed Snags and Butts we are probably actually better off in the now. King is still developing and he needs to lead and create options for others, not try to do it all himself. It might work out alright short term. If you were planning against the 2022 Saints it wasn't hard to work out what we do. This gives us a lot more unpredictability.

We need to be more than a one trick pony so they are all going to need to step up , other teams seem to cope with injuries so its about time we put the tissues down and got on with it
This exactly. Would have panicked if Ratts was in charge.
With RTB we will have a plethora of alternatives.
Max back R6 or so. We are 3-3, and 17 rounds to go.

Yeah i wish him all the best with his health too but if he is going to be serious about being an AFL get yourself fit or go play in the bush , For a bloke who admits he isn't fit yet does nothing about it WTF

Three km time trials aren't the be all and end all. He might be more burst athlete than natural aerobic or endurance beast. I doubt Sam Mitchell won time trials or sprints but he'd be in plenty of hawks fan's teams of the century. Hunter Clark is the same. I doubt he ever gets to a point where he wins races but he just needs to be fit enough to perform his role to a high standard. I'm willing to give Stocker a chance to prove himself beyond the time trial.

Rather play Jack Hayes ( who may not make the opener but shouldn't be far off ) or Sharman.
Wood can also play more forward.

Wood is again a guy who is a great link up player but struggled as a KPF at North. A big part of his problem is that he's a KP sized high half forward and North wanted him to be the new Wayne Carey. He's better roaming but that's not a bad thing for us. A heap of players buzzing all over the place will stretch out defences a lot more than our stationary set up under Ratts.

Massive pity about Max. But what is happening at the Saints isn’t about the first half of next year. It is about the long term. Building a sustainable future. Resilience is a part of it.

You have to keep going forward. Learning to live without Max is a necessity. Wish it wasn’t so, but we have to be flexible and able to adapt. We’ll be better for it in the longer term. It’s the only way we can look at it.

Reminds me of the times we lost Plugger. Always at a bad time. Seem to remember O’Brien filling the gap well. Buckets too. And after he left Heatley. Hopefully someone comes out and fills in well.

Sharman, Hayes, Battle….whoever. Keeler might get a game just parked in the forward pocket. Now that would be interesting.

Well that’s a lovely kick in the ⚽🏀.

Far from ideal in the short term, but as some others have said, at least it will force us to hopefully get used to less of a bomb-it-long-on-King’s-head gameplan, which could help us a lot in the long run.

And at least we do have suitable alternatives, with Battle and Sharman (and then Hayes, if not ready for R1).

Again as some others have said, I’d be all for Skunk going back to FF.

Kicked 44 goals from just 17 games there at 22yo or so, and then came top 10 in the Coleman in another year, so there’s no reason at all he couldn’t kick plenty of goals in Max’s absence.

Sharman can then play his roaming role (or Wood) and Battle/Hayes can play pocket or CHF.

We really do have a lot of ways we can go here.

It would help enormously if like last season our first half of the draw is the easiest though.

Fox Sports saying 20 weeks for Max King
That's around Anzac Day Round

Fmd, this club. The wind blows and one of our key talents is cooked.

What is the opposite of where luck meets opportunity? That is us. Bad fortune follows us everywhere we go, but at the same time, King is pencil thin. Same as Clarke.

It's beyond bad luck. We must work harder. Physically we are very weak.
