I swear some people watch the game that occurred in a parallel universe, not the one I just watched
In fact,

Despite my absolute pride in our season

What part of Dutchy's 11 possession make you think it was a pass? He got smoked.

What part of Cotters 8 possies give him a pass?

What part of crippas 13 possessions for a starting mid make you think it was a pass?

I'm fine for someone to disagree but a snide remark from someone with literally nothing objective to back them up is a bit rich.

What an amazing season, and really, we shouldn't lose that game after qtr time if there weren't some absolute passengers.

We will grow.

But down lie to yourself and say they all played well.

Both of our ruckmen taps the ball to no one - that's if they win the tap.
I thought pitto was good 1st quarter but like everyone else fell away … when we were good he was good , when we were bad he was bad .. that’s football .. fell like everyone needs to take a step back and appreciate we have not made a prelum
Since 99 .. I know I know they are hard to make but we had a good season

Don't disagree but you have to say he probably would have helped tonight

Being killed at the CB by clearance and pace, two things I'd nothing else we know he brings, was kind of insulting considering that's supposed to be our identity

Not saying he would have won us the game but we did look deadly with him in there and not so one paced

He wouldn't have made any difference to the way we were beaten, which was poor ball use under pressure

I just said I hope we keep him. Anyone who can win CB's is a very big deal.
If you are basing his quality on just winning clearances rather than his overall game, you are missing a few vital components

No matter who he plays for, he will be behind the pecking order of every midfield

Surely there are other aspects of this autopsy thread that we can focus on

Our best 22 has JSOS and only 1 ruck, Boyd is best 22 all day long. Delivery into 50 needs to be addressed, some pace needed … the rest was just finals inexperience. We have that now.

Charlie and his feeders need to play to his strengths.

All up so happy with the season, still lots to learn, hopefully they learn it for next year.

Respect to your team. Almost no finals experience and you played 3 great and mostly close finals were you came out looking good. You couldnt quite get over the line when set the toughest task in the comp although you gave it a good shake at their cauldron like venue. Your team is not old like mine and they look set for finals for the foreseeable future.

What a wild ride the past 3 months have been as a supporter. Almost surreal to watch it unfold.

After watching tonight’s game, I’ve got a few observations.

Firstly, we absolutely need to shed a few one-paced midfielders. Need to re-invent hewett or kennedy’s roles or move on for trade capital imo. Fogarty already signed but he’s another. Dow already looks destined for the exit.

We absolutely need to throw the kitchen sink at some Zac Bailey types. Inside/outside mid that can spread and break lines/tackles and has x-factor.

We also need a high level small forward who can be at the feet of the big boys. We also need another half decent ruckman (Pittonet is a trier but he ain’t the answer).

Get these right and we’re a realistic chance next year, 100%
I’d bite the bullet and try for Goldstein.. we’re in the window and he’s a Pitto upgrade and he kicks goals.

I genuinely love you all

I truly love this club.

Congrats to Brisbane on a well earned victory.

Lots to learn from that.

The significance of a top four finish.

Ran out of legs.

Brave team to hang in there.

Proud of this team

He wouldn't have made any difference to the way we were beaten, which was poor ball use under pressure
Pressure that eventuated because we couldnt win the ball ourselves at the CB which resulted in an absolute onslaught of pressure to our back half.

More pressure from their team meant more mistakes too from ours

At least that was my interpretation

All games have swings in momentum but when you back half doesn't get a swing in almost a half of football more pressure builds and builds which is why our more level headed, reliable and calm players were making mistakes. E.g Newman, Hewitt, Walsh, Docherty etc

Winning a couple CB and turning the pressure could potentially help with those skill issues

After 43 years? Probably not.

But I'm glad close enough is good enough for you. With such a low bar you'll always be happy.
If this ends up being our high-water mark, like it was for Ratten, then I'll agree. I'm choosing to assume this is the beginning of an era, not a one off.

Couple things I should say.

I was critical of Marchy over Kemp... I was wrong.

I was critical of Holland's in as he wasn't ready for finals... I was wrong.

Plenty of up side for us. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Was an incredible run and we can improve from here.
One thing I am critical of in hindsight is Cincotta over Kemp, considering his form in the finals. I initially thought that was because he has good footskills that he kept his spot, but with Boyd hitting targets, we could have done with Kemp.

As I said, totally hindsight though

One absolutely fantastic and imo unexpected revelation from our great finals run is that Caleb Marchbank has finally had a kind run of it from the footy gods and is clearly a valuable defensive component of our team. Absolutely rapt for Marchy

Your the exact type of campaigner that I despise, try 1973 pal, that's how far back I go! You and your 'low bar' shite is the Elliott era brainless tripe that our club was infamous for that landed us 28 years since our last flag. Your type just don't get it, you reckon Hawthorn are all about wins?!? You are a tosser.
You seem pretty calm and level headed about things.

If we were nearby I would give you the biggest bearhug.

Gutted for everyone right now and it sucks. But WOW what a ride. Well done to the fellas and coaching staff for turning it around in season amazing stuff. The worst part of todays loss and the only thing that’s irking me.. is the use of the word ‘brave’ I thought only * can be brave…. We’re tough we’re hard we’re nearly there
