I'd guess its more about being able to recognise them when it does matter than anything today.
Good point but now I just imagine Piggy Smalls rocking up to training in a couple of months and security picks him up and carries him out. "I SWEAR BELLY, I'M JUST FROM BIGFOOTY!!!"

That would make sense with the Jhye and Noddy calls in particular and it sounds like Jhye is well and truly passing his test
Yes there's just no way Noddy is behind Ethan in my opinion. But plonking a big bodied, hard running and physical type on Noddy to push him and get him ready for those types makes a lot of sense.

The melts on here when Ethan Hughes is lining up on the wing at Marvel in R1 while Nod, Johnson and Erasmus are down at Peel will be something to behold 😂😂

Yeah, I'm showing my bias with Jhye but the Hughes one would blow my mind, like, my melts over Banfield last year would be nothing in comparison

Really long drill before the next quarter
Boys look super fit
KH back swiftly with a quick injection of calm and reason and prescience excitement, before we attack each other's eyes with razor-stropped crayons.

Thank you grand sir :tearsofjoy:

Looking at it from the other way around. It's also good to get some reps for Hughes against an AFL winger and boost his chops as a backup if ever needed. I actually like the idea of Hughes as a winger, I just much prefer the other options we have at the moment. If those get compromised then having Hughes ready for the role will be good.

Last year he got thrown in there without much prep for it. I like a lot that he's getting some time there this PS.

I like him as depth / back-up wing as well but that's as far as I'd take it. He just plays within his limitations and plays stagnant and safe. That's fine as a depth, mature body but I'd lose it over playing him ahead of Noddy who plays "winning football" on a wing and has the scope to develop more every game he plays.

I mean they could have just had Hughes on him from the opposite team tho...

Did have a listen when I saw it come up, it's pretty encouraging to hear Schmook agree with everything the training reporters are saying. Man I cant wait even for the preseason games to see how we look
Maybe listen to the other teams version, suspect it might sound like we're having 18 premiers.
