It's a shame that the AFL only awards coach of the year to the coach of the premiership team

The way Voss has transformed this team is nothing short of amazing. I saw his playing like this next year but it lost faith that it was possible this year. I thought there was too much work to be done and not enough time.

Voss is proving more and more that he was the right choice for this list.
So what you are saying is Voss could be coach of the year? All this team needs to do is win the premiership? Rightio boys get it done!

David King can’t say a nice thing about us on First Crack. Leigh Montagna OTOH.

Kingy is normally said good things about us most of the year. He’s the one that actually still believed in us. I guess will see this morning on SEN when he an Gerard do there top 4 seeds

We were really poor with our forward I50’s tonight, Charlie up against 2/3 defending him, dumb footy, no spread or hit ups unlike our previous games we bombed it long to obvious areas that were either intercepted/defended causing turnovers far too easy, their switching/spread, run & rebound cost us far too many easy goals…
Ironically Charlie showed how it should be done.

A couple of times he was on HF line he delivered 50m pinpoint passes across the ground to a teammate on their own…sublime kicking and vision.

He has for sure, since we came good. He was very critical of our game plan and Voss's choices during the bleak 6 week run. But then he praised Voss for turning it around. I thought he was stingy with praise last nite, but it was more protecting Ross Lyon.

How wonderful that it was Dow who kicked the goal to put us in front last quarter!
I think he got better as the game progressed. Won some important clearances as well.

I was bit surprised in Vossy’s post match when he said he was planning on subbing Dow off until he kicked that goal. Fogarty was the obvious choice at 3/4 time.

Sorry don’t want to seem like I’m bagging Marchy, understand all the hardships during his footy journey he has been through, just my opinion on how I’m seeing it, more than happy to be wrong…

Definitely slower to react than most. Needs to trust first option as he works his way back

Some things that were going on last time we won 7 in a row:
  • John Howard was Prime Minister. Bill Clinton was the US President
  • The season was being played slightly earlier than normal to accomodate the Sydney Olympics. 7th August was actually the date of the last home and away round
  • We were only 6 months away from the first crew arriving in the international space station
  • Tiger Woods was about to burst on the scene - only a few weeks later he won his first ever major
  • We were a plucky bunch who had recently survived the millenium bug. If i remember correctly it was defeated largely thanks to the 12 goals snagged by 18 year-old Brendan Fevola in the 'Millenium Match' played against Collingwood on New Year's Eve
  • Our winning streak kicked off with a 91 point demolition of Port. Craig Bradley had 41 touches, Scott Camporeale got the 3 Brownlow votes, and Aaron Hamill led the way up forward, while Stephen Silvagni demolished Warren Tredrea at full back.
  • Match 5 in our winning streak (against St Kilda) was our first ever win at the newly opened Docklands stadium. Matthew Lappin kicked 4 for the Blues
  • Match 7 in our winning streak (in Perth against West Coast) saw Brett Ratten get the 3 Brownlow votes. The hapless Eagles were on their way to their lowest ever ladder finish... but help in the form of Chris Judd was only 18 months away
  • Match 9 in our winning streak was against Brisbane at the Gabba. The Lions were 12th at the time, but rallied under captain Michael Voss to make finals and ultimately finished 6th
  • That winning streak would eventually get to 12. Five of those matches were at Princes Park
  • Brodie Kemp, Jesse Motlop, Ollie Hollands and Sam Walsh weren't yet born. Paddy Dow had just hit 3 months of age.

Serious question how do we fit all of cerra Walsh McGovern McKay Silvagni Kennedy into the side
And then there is Boyd
Who goes out?
Don’t think it’s that hard .. Kennedy walsh mckay and McGovern and cerra for Marchbank , curnow , Dow , Fogarty , fisher . Sos is the hard one , him or pitto play but the thing is we wil always have injuries so that depth looks good

Come from behind win with arguably a 1/3 of our best 22 out
Under the circumstances, that was a better win than the Pies.
St. Kilda were very switched on, I thought losing Gov might have been the last straw.(his replacement, Marchy concerned me)

I really don’t mind acres’s kicking a few oof every now and then. He more than makes up for it.

Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit 🤣

Love the way he goes about it, he's actually having a very good year

The lack of full time games have cost him this year, we’ve probably cost him the chance during the year with not rewarding him on the back of his outstanding reserves form by giving him bits and pieces as a sub, it hasn’t helped to evolve him as a player…
Kid needs game time, far from the player who many think that he is a not much chop or a complete bust…
When the midfield is stacked, how to play him consistently though?

Agreed he needs FT midfield minutes to develop further and gain confidence.

If all of Cripps, Walsh , Hewitt, Cerra and Kennedy are fit - and they want to play cunners, Motlop , Fogerty through there from forwards, also occasionally doc & acres - how do we give Dow full & consistent games ?

Fisher also showed want he can do on the ball - was brilliant yesterday.

Dow’s not a forward clearly - a clearance specialist with his burst and strength.

As much as we’d like to keep him, not sure how we do ( per Fisher ).

Rapt that we finally beat the Saints...who have had the wood on us in recent years...and that we also beat a Ross Lyon side, that plays (with very few exceptions) the type of footy that I loathe. I have no issue with high pressure games...but the focus on locking down everything and smothering the game makes me want to spew up.

You will be in a long queue of posters confessing they were wrong about ...errr coaches, half the players, and not just the ones we were assured had papers stamped ..............
