Not saying this to be negative, more just as a point of concern. I'm not confident for the following reasons:

RD3 vs Melbourne - 16 coaches votes between Oliver & Petracca
RD4 vs Port Adelaide - 5 coaches votes for Zak Butters
RD6 vs Geelong - 10 coaches votes for Patrick Dangerfield
RD7 vs GWS - 10 coaches votes for Toby Greene
RD9 vs Fremantle - 5 coaches votes for Caleb Serong
RD13 vs St Kilda - 9 coaches votes for Jack Sinclair
RD14 vs Brisbane - 16 coaches votes between Bailey & Neale
RD17 vs Richmond - 10 coaches votes for Shai Bolton
RD18 vs Bulldogs - 10 coaches votes for Bontempelli
RD19 vs Fremantle - 8 votes for Caleb Serong
RD20 vs Essendon - 5 votes for Zach Merrett

This is not including Charlie Curnow receiving 2 votes against us when he could've had far more (took 11 marks(!) but kicked 1.4) or Tim English & Tom Liberatore having 7 votes between them, or Dusty having 8 votes against us, or Pendles having 9 votes against us.

Put simply we are struggling to stop the best of the best this year. All the players we talk of being concerned about ad nauseam in the preview threads come out and do exactly what we feared they'd do. Now coaches votes aren't everything and obviously these individuals are also receiving plenty of support. But at the end of the day we are 3-8 in the above games, and two of those wins were by a combined 4 points. So we can dismiss it all we like but it's a major part of why we've struggled this year.

Based on that it's hard not to think at least one of Toby Greene or Josh Kelly are going to destroy us.

To my eyes our defensive roles have mostly been ineffective failures this year, so I'm not sure what Horse & co have planned for this game but I hope it works better than what we've tried most of this year.

I can see many ways that we can win this game and just as many that we can lose it. GWS are bringing a consistent but not overwhelming form line that our best is capable of beating. So we might win by 20 or lose by 40.
There are some fascinating matchup, especially in our forward line. Sam Taylor is in tremendous form but he is only one player. If we can get a decent spread of targets we can considerably lessen his impact.
Lots to enjoy.

I feel if we kick more goals than gws. We should win.

As for weather.
100% for a shower between 7 and 9pm.
It will be coming up from the south by then. Which doesn't usually impact Homebush as much.
(Westerly rain this morning).

I fear for our midfield today. They’re gonna get a bath if they don’t stand up physically to the big bodies of the Giants.

Also their defence is insane right now and no Buddy to take Sam Taylor who is a freaken wall.

The ins for us are so uninspiring but understandable due to their experience and this being our last shot at making finals.

Not confident.
Giants be 23

But Sam Taylor is joined by Buckley, Haynes & Himmelberg. They are destroying forward lines.

I think the giants will be to good for us with too many missing and underdone players. Even with both teams at full fitness it would be a 50 50 game.

Also not confident that our 3 tall forwards can have a 4 quarter impact on the game either. Especially against the giants defence.

Will be very impressed if we can pull of a win here.

Swans by 23

But I believe this strength can become a weakness. Their defence is fairly tall so lets bring the ball to ground and let our smalls go to work. We just need to ensure that we aren’t allowing too many intercept marks.

The Giants are hugely reliant on Toby Greene starring every single week. If we can somehow limit his influence (no small task) this will go a long way to us winning. I’m back in fantastic Fox to put the clamps on Toby.

Thanks for the brilliant preview SP!

Only error... It'll be the mighty Sydney Swans SMFC by 37!!

Things that annoy me:

The G in GWS.

Why can’t they simply be the Western Sydney Giants?

Where is “Littler Western Sydney” FFS?

Evidently some pony-tailed advertising exec thought it was good idea to be “Greater”.

But soon we’ll have the Bravedogs claiming to be the “Greater Western Bravedogs”.

Their ins are classy but might have some rust.

Ours are less so but are at least match fit.

Think we will really miss the run and smart JMac disposal.

Lots to be interested about in this game.

I doubt we can stop Toby's influence. Limiting the Champ to 3 goals would be great. Big job forTMac v Hogan who has been good this year.

Seems likely Ward will tag Gulden. Errol will learn a heap from the grandson of South champion forward Billy Gunn.

Who knows what will happen in the mids? Briggs has been terrific and Green, Bunny and Kelly are very capable. On paper our mids look capable too but have misfired for the reasons we have debated all year. The wet might help our fellas go close to breaking even at clearances.

I reckon our fwds might go ok. Surely Logan will be on his bike and disrupt Taylorand co. If we can get multiple goals from Amartey that will help.Hoping Papley, Wicks and Heeney have big nights and snag a few.

My tip is the Bloods to win a tough game by 23.

I feel its geographical term?

The people of the inner western sydney would never want to be associated with the greater west.

Can of worms there Donza

But in a 2nd (and related) “things that annoy me rant”:

This whole “Battle of the Bridge” thing is beyond stupid.

Which bridge?

If it’s the Harbour Bridge - well that’s just idiotic.

If it’s the Anzac Bridge - guess that means Rozelle, Drummoyne and Hunters Hills are all part of “Greater Western Sydney”.

Advertising execs with pony tails driving Audis annoy me too - because they come up with this kind of stuff.

Wow, I’ve gone all bedford today!
