Maybe she done some more digging

I can’t stand her but she gets plenty right

Really hope she is right this time
For all Wilson cops, she is more often right than wrong.
Still the article is a dissociative conclusion jumper.
Dilena good at North now at Saints
'Rumours' Lethlean and Lyon don't get on. Denied but doesn't suit the narrative
Hawks sniffing Lethlean
Dilena to take over as CEO at the Saints.

She’s usually on the money.

Sit back and watch it happen. Many on here will be backing a move like this.
Lethlean’s appointment at the Saints was just a face-saving job by the AFL. We all knew it. Pity we are/were so beholden to the AFL we had very little choice.

Sounds like Dilena would be a far better person for the role. Let’s hope it happens.

I like Caro, but I'm not sure there's much to that article apart from the rumour she heard and they both denied. It will be interesting to see if more comes of it but there is very little to be taken from the article apart from her opinion that Dilena would be a good CEO.

Pretty sure the Suns denied they’d be sacking Dew too…
A lot to play out here still, I think.
End of the season looms as an interesting time both on and off-field.

I think she was on the money. If they weren't sacking Dew, her saying it doesn't mean they had to do it. If anything her talking about it should have made them more resolved to keep him. They will have been sounding out Hardwick for ages.
She was pouring the pressure on to bring what was always afoot to a head imo. They had just played two very good sides it was nothing more than creating a perceived crisis to allow his axing. I imagine she’d have dialed it back a bit if they‘d managed a win then pounced when they dropped the next game.

Why? What’s in it for her?

Andrew Bassat cut his teeth in Management as a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton. Carl Dilena was previously a Senior Partner with KPMG. They both received their MBA from the Melbourne Business School. They would see how to get things done pretty much the same way and both have a great record of success in the things they have overseen. I worked with Andrew when he first started at Booz Allen and he was determined way back then. I would be very happy with them in charge of fostering Saints future while RTB was leading our current coaching team. Every successful premiership team has had a great club administration, so this is really important for our future success.

Well it's her job...
Obviously.
But she’s not going to push the narrative of Dew being fired unless there was truth in it. It’s neither here nor there for her if he kept his job. But once she knew of course it’s her job to report it.

It’s her job to fish out and report stories.
She’s got no skin in the game about whether Dew kept his job or was fired.
she didn’t make it up, but once she got wind of it of course she’d report it - it’s her job.

Why not? Journalists make up crap all the time and she's done it herself many times.

Of course there's something in it for her lol if there wasn't anything in it for her she wouldn't have said anything.

As opposed to the other stories that she has written that were just as wrong as that one was right.
Her brand is to be the “moral voice” in the AFL world.
There’s not another like her.
That brand drives clicks.
So…
There is nothing inconsistent about her approach here.
Whether there is any substance to it all is debatable.

To clarify - again…
there was nothing in it for her whether Dew kept his job or not.

ONCE she heard what she heard, of course she’d do her job.

As with ITKs on this board - nobody makes things up. They hear what they hear and say/write about it, but things may change thereafter. Happens all the time. Caro has not been sued for any of her stories as far as I can recall.

There’ll be substance. Wait for the end of the season.
Her brand is to call out the boys club of the AFL and, like it or not, she does.

Not quite sure what your point is really. Semantics? Yes obviously a football reporter gets nothing out of the sacking of a football coach. Who's arguing that there's something to gain there? She quite clearly gets something out of reporting on it though - if the news wasn't juicy enough she wouldn't bother. Breaking big stories helps to push their careers along.

Personally I think it's pretty naive to think a journo wouldn't make up a story lol. The "things change" stuff does of course happen but it's often used as a convenient excuse for making up bullshit and then having an out if it doesn't eventuate. I don't think any journo has been sued for some bullshit they've made up so not sure it's a badge of honour for Caro not to have been.

Caro isn't immune from making up bullshit either.

Making up garbage is part of their role unfortunately.

She gets good mail. I think she sniffed around and and someone let it out. It sounds like the Suns thought that someone had leaked. You can't leak if it's something that isn't there.
